Scenic Byway Program
• Administered by the Federal Highway Administration
• Passed through WA-‐DOT • $25 to $50 M available a year since 1991 • Planning, Programing, and Capitol Projects • All projects funded in this program must be identified in a State/ Federally approved Corridor Management Plan

Goals of Scenic Byway Planning
Creation of a Byway Planning Committee Inventory and assessment of intrinsic values (historic, cultural, recreational, and scenic) Transportation Corridor Analysis (roads, trails, and transit) Develop fundamental branding and marketing concepts for the corridor (logo and signage) Create Interpretive themes for the corridor Develop a complete plan that enhances the visitor experience while protecting the intrinsic values of the corridor through :
• Capitol projects • Marketing strategies and tools • Public Policy • Community stewardship
