Upgrading the firmware on a PRM45 projector Applicable to: Any PRM45 projector whereby Promethean has authorised a firmware upgrade. This process can be carried out by end users or Partners. Upgrade Requirements: Windows PC/laptop (Windows XP SP2 – Windows 7. Windows 8 is not supported) that is connected to the mains. A user account on the PC that has full administrative privileges. A projector that has been identified as requiring a firmware upgrade. The firmware files for the projector. The setup file for the firmware upgrade program. x1 USB A to Mini USBB Initial projector setup (IMPORTANT): Turn on the projector which requires a firmware upgrade. Turn off Low Power Mode using the projector remote control. o (Menu > Installation II > Advanced > Low Power Mode) Turn off the projector using the projector remote control. Initial setup for the computer carrying out the upgrade: Download the setup files and firmware from the below link: o https://promethean.box.com/s/fnzlo9cddtxkcf48qy8c o Ensure that these files are placed in a location on your machine to which you have full, unrestricted access, and that is not writeprotected. o Extract the contents of both .zip files into a location on your machine to which you have full, unrestricted access, and that is not writeprotected. Install DLP Composer Lite v11.2 Setup.exe by double clicking the icon, and following the onscreen instructions. Once the program has been installed, locate and run Install DLP Device Drivers from the Windows Start menu.

• Install  DLP  Composer  Lite  v11.2  Setup.exe  by  double  clicking  the  icon,  and  following  theonscreen  instructions.

• Once  the  program  has  been  installed,  locate  and  run  Install  DLP  Device  Drivers  from  theWindows  Start  menu.

• When  prompted,  select  Microsoft  WinUsb  and  then  click  Install.    

 • Install  the  drivers  and  agree  to  any  prompts  you  may  receive  from  the  computer.  • In  the  folder  that  contains  the  setup  file  DLP  Composer  Lite  v11.2  Setup.exe  you  will  find  a  

file  called  FlashDeviceParameters.txt.  Copy  this  file  and  paste  it  into  C:\Program  Files\DLP  Composer  Lite  11.2.  

• Restart  the  computer.  

Carrying  out  the  firmware  upgrade  • Ensure  the  projector  is  in  standby  and  the  projector  power  light  is  solid  green.  • Connect  the  Mini  USB-­‐B  connector  to  the  port  on  the  rear  of  the  PRM-­‐45.  

 • Point  the  remote  control  at  the  projector  sensor  and  press  the  following  grey  arrow  buttons  

in  order:  o 2,  1,  4,  1  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• The  Lamp  light  will  flash  red  twice,  which  signifies  that  you  have  entered  the  code  correctly.    

• Connect  the  USB  A  connector  to  a  USB  port  on  your  PC.  • Allow  the  PC  to  configure  the  drivers  for  the  device.  • Launch  DLP  Composer™  Lite  11.2  from  the  Windows  Start  menu.  

   • Select  Flash  Loader  from  the  left  hand  side  of  the  screen:  

   

• Click  OK  on  the  next  message:  

   

• Click  Edit  and  select  Preferences:  

 

• Select  Communications  and  then  click  the  USB  check  box.    Enter  the  following  values  in  USB  Device  Identification:  

o Vendor       0x5dd  o Product     0x4421  

 • Click  OK.  • Check  the  box  for  Skip  Boot  Loader  Area  and  ensure  the  drop  down  box  is  set  to  32  KB.  

 

   

• Browse  your  computer  for  the  firmware  file  extracted  previously:  

o  • Click  Start  Download.  

 • Click  Yes  when  prompted.  • Wait  for  the  firmware  upgrade  to  finish:  

 You  can  now  close  the  program,  disconnect  the  USB  cable  and  turn  your  projector  on  as  normal.
