NPS NEWSLETTER In this issue… Week 9 Term 3 2019 Dear Parents/Caregivers, We have almost completed another busy Term. The children participated in so many extra-curricular activities it is hard to remember them all. Last Friday these all culminated in a Whole School Concert with ‘Musicals’ being the theme. Students performed songs from ‘Mama Mia’, ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘We Will Rock You’, and rock us they did! It was a fantastic day, the weather was amazing and so many parents and carers came to see our performers. Again the K-2 dancers shone and the harmonious voices of the Multicultural singers and dancers ended a fabulous day. Thank you to Miss Thompson and her band of merry helpers who made the day so successful. This Thursday is our last Whole School Assembly for the Term. Don’t forget footy colours day this Friday and the K-6 Disco on Tuesday night. The amazing students of the Lindfield Band are coming to perform for us on Thursday 26. What a great way to end the Term! Have a restful and safe break. See you in Term Four. KLA KAPERS

Science Report

As the last Noumea newsletter was going to print, results had come through for both our ‘Fish-In’ workshop and the annual Science fair held earlier this Term.

The “Fish-In” workshop, which is now in its fourth year and is solely a Noumea Public School initiative, involved 44 students and four teachers from across two schools. Representatives from NSW fisheries and volunteers were on hand with 10 of our students catching 11 Rainbow trout and Mr Ford losing a twelfth due to ‘showing off’.

At the same time, our Annual Science fair continued to show strong growth with a total of 38 entrants being the highest number of participants to date. Almost every class was represented with approximately one in seven students from across the school entering. There were 14 prizes awarded across various categories with many of the projects being interactive and not just informative. The use of re-purposed materials was particularly heartening to see and in our minds every entrant could be seen as a winner.

Keep up the great work Noumea.

Mr Ford

Whole School Concert On Friday 13 September, Noumea celebrated with our Whole School Concert celebrating different musicals. Students performed from famous musicals such as ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘The Greatest Showman’. The students did a fantastic job with their musical numbers and enjoyed singing and dancing to all the songs. A big thank you to all the Stage 3 parents who donated cakes and thank you to the community for your support of the cake stall. We were able to raise over $350 for the Year 6 farewell.
