A behavioral model is contrasted with other historical models of how the family is involved in addiction. Participants are introduced to the happiness survey and areas of change, behavioral contracting, strengthening couple communication skills, increasing exchange of positive reinforcement, and strategies for problem-solving and conflict resolution. Also considered are screening for, preventing, and addressing family violence.Working with Adolescents: Treatment and Prevention Discuss the differences between adolescent and adult substance use/abuse, and review evidence-based approaches for working with adolescents.
