Transcript of UFV New Faculty Orientation and BBQ
to UFVWELCOME
July 23, 2013
Welcome to the University of the Fraser Valley. We believe UFV is a good place to work, and for our students, an exceptional place to study. As a workplace, UFV has a long tradition of valuing cordial, open relationships, and an equally long standing reputation as a friendly place to work. We look forward to getting to know you, and to supporting you in becoming another enthusiastic member of UFV’s vibrant learning and working community. To help us get to know you, we request your attendance at two events.
Our New Faculty Orientation (August 20) is your opportunity to explore your workplace and the career and professional development options and opportunities available. Breakfast and lunch is provided. Please RSVP to Ashley Nickel in Human Resources at 604-504-7441 extension 4429. If you are unable to attend, please contact Ashley and we will work with your dean or director to ensure your orientation is completed. Also, if you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to review the online “Orientation Resources” area of the HR website (ufv.ca/hr).
After Orientation, come join the summer fun at our Employee Welcome (^Back) BBQ (August 21) to celebrate the start of the new academic year. Beginning over 30 years ago, this “family picnic” remains one of our most popular events, held on the campus green (under tents if the weather occasionally does not cooperate). Enjoy good (complimentary) food, music, company and…prizes! Bring your partner/ family; everyone is welcome to this casual event. The barbeque will be held on the Abbotsford (King Road) Campus beginning at 12 noon.
Further details about both events are enclosed. If you have any questions or need information, please don’t hesitate to contact the Human Resources office at 604-854-4554. I look forward to meeting you in August, and until then wish you a wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Diane Griffiths,Associate Vice President, Human Resources
