By using a standard format, you convey a sense of professionalism and help the reader get right to the message itself.

A business letter is a written communication addressed to a person or organization, by a person or organization for specific business purpose

All lines typically begin at the left margin. Nothing is indented except for displayed quotations, tables, and similar material. This style is also known as the full-block style.

A block letter is a letter (usually business letter) format where all typed content is aligned with the left margin and no indentation. A block letter typically contains specific components, including the sender's name, address, phone, the recipient's name and address, the current date, a reference statement (usually in the form of "Re: [the reference]"), the subject, the main body of the letter and other components as well.
