Internship Experience

This past summer, I interned with Case IH in Racine, WI working alongside their harvesting/planting technical support group.

During my internship:

- Helped update service training manuals for both planters and combines.

- Created ISO CanBus quick reference sheets for all the agricultural tractors.

- Traveled briefly on the RedPower Tour.

- Developed and created step by step testing procedures for CNH’s new off-board diagnostic testing system for agricultural and construction equipment, called DATAR.

Internship Experience

Collected large amounts of electrical and hydraulic data from certain systems on equipment. From these measurements the technical support group could get very accurate and highly detailed information regarding voltages, hydraulic pressures, temperatures, etc. From the tests I conducted, the technical support group could compare these known values against those from a down machine. Below are some of the tests that I conducted.

- AFX Combine Rotor Engagement - AFX Combine Rotor Speed Sensor - AFX Combine Cleaning Fan Speed Sensor - Magnum CVT Clutch Pack Engagement - Early Riser Planter Bulk Fill Speed Sensor

Internship Experience

Things I Enjoyed During My Internship:

During my internship, I had many opportunities to interact and network with employees from technical support, parts and service, service training, manufacturing, and marketing. I feel this will be highly beneficial should I choose to pursue a career with them in the future.

Had a very hands on and technical focus to my internship, and the projects I was assigned.

I acquired a great deal of knowledge regarding hydraulic and electrical systems that have helped me get a jump start in some of my courses this past fall and spring.

Down the Road…

Expected Graduation – Fall 2012

Following graduation I plan on being employed by a agricultural machine/equipment manufacturer somewhere in the midwest.

I’m especially interested in the areas of test engineering and post production development.
