PAQ4411.1

INTERFACING with EQUIPMENT and GATHERING DATA

Using IO (digital inputs, relays, analog inputs)to get status, levels and make actions

Using RS232 serial ports (RS422, RS485 on demand)to access console, integrate protocols with API

Using Ethernet portsSNMP concentrator (2009)

PROCESSING DATA:

Permanently check that status, levels are within tolerance and normal conditions

Run a script and trigger automatic actions when facing out of tolerance conditions

Log readings, status

Generate alarms

ADVANCED TX REMOTE CONTROL

PAQ4411.1

Advanced Tx Remote Control : TCP/IP Tunneling

What is it?Tunneling is a TCP/IP gateway that can pass data from a specific IP port to a serial (RS-232) connection and send the returning data from the RS-232 back to the originating IP address and port.

What are the uses?More and more transmitting sites are getting TCP/IP connectivityBut there is still a lot of older equipment that can only use serial connections

Tunneling enables a remote access to those units via TCP/IP

How?The AA unit each have at least one serial port which can be used to establish a tunneling connection. USB ports can also be used for that applicationIn some cases, even proprietary programs can connect through a tunneling IP connection just like they were directly connected to the RS-232 of the legacy gear.

Advanced Tx Remote Control : API

What is it?API means Advanced Program Interface. It is a powerful new tool for advanced programmers to link an AA unit (equipped with Scripteasy software) with external equipment, via one of the available serial ports. Users can write commands through the serial connection, read responses, and configure actions based on the results

What are the uses? Some equipment and devices have only serial communication ports for control and readingsThe only way to monitor or control them is to use specific commands (I.E. simple tunneling will not work, or you need automated communication)Replaces time consuming traditional IO Wiring – easily duplicated from site to site

=> The API enables permanent monitoring and control of such equipment without using traditional IO

Transmit alarms in case of faultsGenerate simple or complex actions upon events (or combinations of events)Log information about events and actions taken

Advanced Tx Remote Control : XML-RPC

What is it?XML-RPC stands for XML Remote Procedure Call.

Commonly used by web designers and programmers, it allows creation of customized active web pages containing many types of information.

What are the uses?Allows for integration of information and functions from the AA remote control equipment into active web pages based on a remote server

Group status, measurement and control functions by station site or region

Access readings and status of any connected equipment through your own web pages and sites
