ALL SOULS IN PURGATORY ALL PARISHIONERS JOSEPH PERALTA † SAM ANTHONY MORASCO, SR †

The children of our parish are about to begin a new school year. I ask that we, as a parish, pray in a special way for the children, teachers, and all others involved in education. We also need to pray for all seminarians, especially Brian and Jason (St. Catherine’s seminarians). Pray that they may have the grace to open their hearts to Jesus’ calling. My seminary days remind me of the movie “Men of Honor” (The Navy Seals). Just as in the Navy, the selection process is arduous. Many come but only some are truly called. Many seminarians will not com-plete their journey as they realize they are not called to this vocation. For those who are truly called, the re-wards will be life giving. I know that once you hear Christ’s call in your heart you should respond. God never said following in his footsteps would gain us honor and glory. As difficult and demanding as it may seem, working in God’s vineyard is very fulfilling. As a Priest one has the opportunity to touch people’s lives in various stages of their faith journey. Sometimes he acts as a “salvage expert” (one who re-claims what is lost); when he encounters someone who has hit rock bottom, he helps them to find their soul and to recapture the lost meaning of life. If someone is down because of depression, fear, or anxiety, he helps him to see the light of hope. If someone is seriously injured or near death, he provides the sacraments and consoles the family. I would never want to be anything other than a priest. I think that in my entire priestly ministry if I help but one person it would be worthwhile. God never stops calling new disciples to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. We need to pray for new vocations. As God said to us in the Sacred Scriptures: “Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry out for help, and he will say, Here I am.” Father Krzysztof

They assist in the planning, implementation and evalua-tion of diocesan events (with the biggest event being a Diocesan Youth Rally). Please keep Angi, Angela, T.J., and Amanda in your prayers as they begin this new journey in their faith life. We will resume next week as usual. Please join us. We begin our meeting right after the 6pm Mass is over and end at about 9pm. We’d like to thank Miss Beth Langley for the wonderful dinner she provided us with last week. Everything was absolutely delicious!
