TRAINING UNIT
BASIC ASSET FORFEITURE NARCOTIC INVESTIGATOR SCHOOL
SPONSORED BY FLORIDA SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION
OCTOBER 17th THROUGH OCTOBER 28th, 2011 __________________________________________________________________
WELCOME
You have been selected to attend one of the finest drug law enforcement training programs in the nation. You will have an opportunity to learn about drug law enforcement procedures and techniques utilized in the federal system – information which is not available to the public or most state and local police officers. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Miami Field Division Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School provides intelligence and techniques which are current. Although the school has been presented a number of times over the years, the curriculum and course content are constantly changing. Just as our enforcement methods must change to keep pace with the traffickers, so must our training.
All of you represent various state and local police agencies. Some of you have been assigned to narcotics units
for some time; others may just be entering this specialized and complicated field. But regardless of how much or how little experience you have in drug law enforcement, these two weeks have been designed to help you do your job better.
The instructors in this school are knowledgeable, experienced law enforcement personnel with particular
expertise in specialized areas. They were chosen for their skills and experience, and you will find that they welcome your questions and comments.
Because each of us in law enforcement is only as good as those who stand next to us, we hope that you will
meet and become friends with everyone in the class, as well as with the instructors. These contacts, both in the classroom and during the evenings, will serve you well in your drug law enforcement careers.
We will do everything we can to make these two weeks a positive learning experience for you. In return, we ask
for an honest effort from you: please pay close attention in class and prepare for the exam. We are looking forward to working with you.
