TERM 2 Week 9
GOOD COUNSEL
PRIMARY SCHOOL
18TH JUNE, 2019
Dear Parents/Carers,
Yesterday our whole school was treated
to an Australian Ballet Performance at
the Good Counsel College Auditorium.
What made the performance of Coppèlia
little more special was that one of the
four dancers was our very own past pupil
Alex Mitchell. Alex graduated from Year
7 in 2012 before moving to Melbourne to
study at The Australian Ballet School.
Year 4-6 students were each treated to a
one hour workshop focussing on the
art of Ballet; learning to tell a story
through dance and attempting basic
ballet moves. The students were in
awe of the story of Coppèlia, as Franz
and Swanhilda explore Dr Coppèlius’ toy
workshop and play a prank on the old
toymaker.
Over the past two weeks students have
been completing final assessments
and teachers have been writing reports
based on teachings from the first
Semester of school this year. Reports
will be uploaded to the Parent Portal on
Thursday 27 June. A copy will be sent
home at the beginning of next term. As
explained in previous newsletters we are
releasing reports slightly later this year
as we have had many sporting
interruptions to teaching time with
Athletics being pushed into Term 2.
