Stewardship Tidbits

Society Says: You will find happiness and peace as you accumulate enough wealth to support your desired standard of living. Scripture Says: You can be content in every circumstance as you follow the scriptural principles of how to handle your possessions.

God Calls Us All to Be Good Stewards. What Is a Steward? A steward is someone… Who has been entrusted with another’s wealth or property. Charged with the responsibility of managing it in the owner’s best interest.

The Connection Cafe continues to do well - we have teams taking care of set up

and closing of the cafe. If you would like to join one of these great teams, just talk to

someone in the kitchen.

Thank you for all the special treats that have been donated - everyone appreciates

them very much! We are getting a little low of packaged cookies. If you are able to

donate some, please bring them to the church kitchen. Thank you!

Trinity Night of Service

Monday, June 8 Join others from Trinity Church as we travel to Spring Lake to volunteer at International Aid. They will be hosting our group exclusively at a Hygiene Kit Packing Event from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Hygiene Kits that we will pack will impact individuals and families by helping to provide much needed hygiene resources. The kits offer that first line of defense against the spread of illness, a first step toward good health, and they provide tangible HOPE in a small package for those who are suffering and in desperate situations around the world.

International Aid promises “two hours of fun, with trivia, facts, snacks and an awesome t-shirt to show others that you helped change lives.” The $15 registration fee per person will be paid in full by our Hands-On Endowment Fund.

All the contents of the kits are ready and waiting at International Aid. We just need to show up and be a part of this great hands-on “life-changing” kit packing event.

Meet a church at 5:15 to ride the bus or car pool. Think of this as a mini mission trip! All able-bodied individuals of any age are encouraged to participate and you can even sit to help with the kit packing. Sign up at the information table by June 1.

Come and be a part of this event!!

Missionary Focus

For more than 25 years, Trinity Church has supported Wayne Jansen as a missionary of the Reformed Church in America in partnership with the United Church of Christ (UCCJ) in Japan. Wayne met his wife, Miho in Japan and together they have 17 year old twin sons, Manato and Megumu.

Less than one percent of Japanese are Christians, with the majority being Shinto and Buddhist. There is a shortage of trained Christian clergy and there is a need for solid theological training for church leaders. Tokyo Union Theological Seminary (TUTS) in Mitaka trains pastors for congregations of UCCJ.

As a homeroom teacher for the freshman class, Wayne gets to know newcomers to the seminary and provides pastoral care for them throughout their time at TUTS. He also works with the seminary’s Clinical Pastoral Education program as well as provides theological and practical training for church leaders. The students are challenged to deal with all sorts of issues that could manifest themselves in ministry while serving in a church. One course he teaches gives students the chance to intern as chaplains at a nearby hospital and the opportunity to learn about caring for others.

Miho teaches English part-time at a Christian high school, helps the faculty and staff translate articles and documents and often entertains students and church members in their home. Manato and Megumu are finishing their high school education and exploring various options for college next year.

Learn more about Wayne and Miho’s work by picking up their most recent newsletter on the mission table. On the following page is a word search on the Jansen’s and their work. Complete this word search and drop it in the blue box on the mission table by Sunday, June 7. There will be a random drawing for a $15 gift card to Kilwin’s Chocolates in downtown Holland. Additional word search pages will be available on the mission table.

Community Action House (CAH) Needs Your Help!!! Please consider donating bicycles, bicycle parts, tools or accessories to our General Store. CAH refurbishes bikes and sells them inexpensively to those who need transportation and/or who need a gift for their child. Funds raised by bicycle sales help support CAH's Holland Community Kitchen, Holland Community Garden, two

local food pantries & CAH's educational programs.

Bikes and other donations may be brought to the Community Action House 'General Store' at 694 Michigan Avenue, M-F from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Call David Lee at 616-594-5451 to schedule bicycle pick-up if needed. It's spring and a wonderful time to get unused bikes out of your way and into the hands of someone who needs a bike!

Also, if you are looking for a great volunteer opportunity, consider joining our Bicycle Refurbishing Team where you can learn how to refurbish bicycles. Other volunteer opportunities are also available at the General Store. Call Mike Foshaug, Retail Sales Manager at 616-594-5451. Thank You So Very Much!
