365 JOURNEY IN THE WORD

Finally – the New Testament! Whew! Who knew that God would spend so

much time preparing us for the birth of his Son? Well, perhaps the Old

Testament was just too grueling for you and you gave up on your reading

the Chronological Bible. It’s time to try again! Pick it up and start on

today’s date. You can do it! The pages of the New Testament are filled

with stories of grace, parables of power and lessons for life. Please join us,

whether you read from the printed page or listen online on our website.

We at Trinity are committed to read the Word of God and be people

God has called us to be. In order to live out the message, we need to

know the message!

Evening Worship Series

The Worship Team of Trinity Church invites and encourages you to

participate in the following evening worship opportunities during the fall

season. The events scheduled are:

October 9 4pm Organ Showcase with Dale Ziegers

November 20 6pm Hanging of the Greens - A congregational

opportunity to intentionally prepare for the

coming of Christ

December 24 4pm Christmas Eve Service - Bringing Your Gifts

Services are followed by light refreshments. Invite your family and friends to experience these

special worship services with you.

Organ Showcase At 4 pm Sunday, October 9, Dale Zieger will present a time of

organ music that will demonstrate the updates to our Kimball

organ. The organ was originally built by W.W. Kimball

Company in 1933 specifically for the Trinity sanctuary at

20th Street & Central Avenue just south of downtown Holland.

In 1984, the organ was moved by the Schantz Organ

Company to our current location. G.M. Pipe Organs of

Wyoming, MI performed the repairs and updates we are now

enjoying.

The organ is described as a traditional style console with roll top closure. The organ

consists of 3 manuals, 4 divisions, 38 stops and 23 ranks. The initial proposal to

refurbish and update the organ was made in 2012 and work was completed in 2015. The

restoration and enhancement includes changing the operation of the organ from piston

and air driven to electronic and signal driven and the addition of a transposer, as well as

making the organ MIDI capable.

Dale Zieger is an internationally acclaimed organist. He’s traveled the world, giving

concerts in 12 countries and 4 continents. Dale began performing in public at the age of

8 and at 18 was on the bench at the Fox Theater in St. Louis, MO. At the age of 10 he fell

in love with the Theater Organ which led to a 50 year dream of building his own

personally designed organ. Today that 4 manual 67 rank “Dream” is part of the Dale and

Gail Music and Art Gallery in Hart, Michigan.

Plan now to enjoy a wonderful collection of music that will showcase what can happen

when modern electronics are combined with a traditional pipe organ. A free will offering

will be taken to benefit Beacon of Hope. Call the church office to make transportation

arrangements. Light refreshments will follow the showcase.

“C.A.R.E. in Christ” Ministry

(Come Alongside to Reassure and Encourage in Christ)

To Come Alongside…..

So no one feels alone on their journey

We are called to be Christ’s Church.

One of the first steps in caring for one another is knowing each other’s names.

Often we can sit in front of someone or even share a row with another person,

yet don’t even know who they are. Perhaps you are too embarrassed to ask, or

maybe they are having trouble remembering your name.

Beginning in October, look for the welcome table as you enter the building. We

will have name tags available for both regular worshipers and our guests. We

so hope that you will take a minute and find your nametag, and that you will

wear it during the service and coffee time afterwards. There will be a basket for

you to deposit your name tag on your way out of the building so you can use it

again next week.

Looking for a way to get involved more in the ministry of Trinity Church?

The following teams work to provide leadership and opportunity for us all.

If you would like to be more involved, please speak with one of our

ministry team leaders.

SOW AND GROW COMMUNITY GARDEN Our garden has been bursting with growth and activity this summer. There have been

struggles, learning and lots of great produce! In my mind, the water has been the biggest

struggle, but we are getting there. Next year will be great fun to move forward with new

gardens and meeting new friends. Everyone has been very responsible for their own plots,

and even helped out when others went on vacation or couldn’t get to the garden. Thank

you to all who have helped out in so many ways, from the youth group mixing the “master

mix” for the garden plots to filling the barrels to getting more barrels and everything in

between. Special thanks to my husband, Paul, who really has pitched in with keeping

everything going and continually stopping by to make sure the water barrels were full, the

keys were working and everything in between. Dianne Moker

LADIES’ NIGHT OUT PROJECT Ladies’ Night Out held their initial meeting of the new season on Sept. 15. After a delicious

meal prepared by Jeanne Dannenberg and Sandy Bedard, the women broke into groups to work on

various projects. One of these projects is our reusable feminine hygiene product kits which we are

making for the Days for Girls organization. According to Days for Girls, girls who do not have access

to hygiene supplies "miss up to 2 months of education and opportunity every year." This ultimately

leads to girls dropping out of school, contributing to the cycle of poverty. The goal is to keep girls in

school during their menstrual cycles and help break the cycle of poverty. We cut out fabric, serge the

edges and sew the pieces together. There are snaps to apply, drawstrings to thread and bags to

pack. Sometimes we rip out mistakes or tackle a sewing machine problem, but we learn from each

other and enjoy some “girl talk.” It is exciting to know that we are making a big difference in the lives

of some young girls as they work on getting their education half a world away.

Earlier in 2016 we completed 50 of the hygiene kits, and have now joined up with a team of

women at Engedi Church who are also making kits. Engedi has an ongoing relationship with

missionaries in Guatemala and Zambia, where they send local teams to serve every year. Our kits

have joined theirs in these locations. One of the local women who went to Guatemala in June

reported, “we presented them to a group of pre-teen girls at the Advancing the Ministries of the

Gospel (AMG) school in Cubulco, Guatemala. Cubulco is a city of 60,000 people located 4-6 hours

north of Guatemala City. She reports that after initial embarrassing giggles, the girls were excited

about the kits and proud to show they knew how to use them. The school principal was especially

grateful, noting that she knew that some girls sit in the river during their menstrual cycle because they

have no way to manage it. ‘This is as much an issue of dignity as it is education,’ she said. In the

Guatemalan villages, it's common custom for many girls in their teens to be married or working and

no longer in school. The Days for Girls kits give them another option. AMG is distributing the

remaining kits via their outreach teams to other villages and have requested more kits.” Other pieces

of our work went to Zambia in July with a mission team.

Trinity women have begun to work on a second set of 50 hygiene kits. If you would like to be

involved, consider this your invitation to come out on the third Thursday evening of the month and join

us. We have tasks for those who sew, as well as for those who don’t. Financial contributions toward

the supplies are also needed, if that is a way you would prefer to help.

Our kits in Guatemala. Do you recognize the fabrics?
