Weekly
Highlights
The flight was great and at least half
of us got there on time!
Upon arrival we were taken to our
motel suites and checked into the Hyatt
Place where we were welcomed by a
beautiful welcome basket filled with
chips, salsas, Chex-mix, a nice variety of candies and a
personal card signed by all the TMC staff and owners.
We then went to the corporate office where we re-
ceived a personal tour. The Home Office was more
beautiful than what we imagined. Then we received a
welcome snack of chips, salsa, and some of Norma’s
delicious homemade bean dip. YUM
Yummmmmmmm. Then we went to dinner at a
placed called the Elephant Bar - everything was succu-
lent.
After our meal (which was Goooooood!) we had a
surprise. With very little notice we were pleasantly
surprised with tickets to the Oklahoma City Thunder
and New Orleans Hornets NBA game. We had the 1st
seats available in the coliseum and had an awesome
view.
AND THIS CONCLUDED OUR 1ST DAY - Unreal
thanks to everyone at TMC!
Day 2 We started day 2 with a great breakfast joined by
both Mark and Gene at our motel, and then journeyed
back to the Home Office to start our TMC University
Training.
It started off in the Board /Conference room with a
great opening/Welcome by Ricki, followed with a
great motivational speech from our very own Gene
Hammond. Some of the most memorable parts of the
message were; “Take just one second of every
minute of every hour of every day to think about what
you want to do or accomplish in life; it has been
proven that this will help you to be successful in any
and every venture of your life”. “Every choice has a
life of its own; the choices that you make will
determine your outcome and you cannot go back and
change those choices once made.”
Gene also made mention of his vision for Travelers
Motor Club, that he would “like to keep the company
TMCU - The Trip . . . small and always family oriented, never
forgetting that it is our principles, morals,
and values that makes a company great.”
This is one of the many things that
convinced us that this is the company we want to retire
with.
We then received hands on training and tutoring from
each of the various department heads of the TMC staff
where they fielded multiple questions via sales force,
our customer base, adding members to existing member-
ships, retaining customers, setting up new mem-
bers, scheduling trips, scheduling, reviewing, and paying
claims, payroll, newsletters, providing legal services,
etc, etc, and the great multitude of other functions being
performed on our behalf. We would like to take a little
time to thank each of you for caring so much for our
sales team.
So “Thank You” Ricki, Norma, Manuel, Janice, and
Debbie.
Then we had a very nice catered in lunch at TMC’s
Home Office and once again excellent foooood.
After lunch we continued on to complete our training
for the day. This day gave us a totally new appreciation
and respect for all the work that is done for us behind
the scenes.
Around 5 o’clock we were escorted to a very nice
restaurant called the Paseo Grill, where we were joined
by the staff and their spouses and friend, as well as Mark
and Gene. We enjoyed great food, great conversation,
and had a barrel of fun, jokes, stories, laughter accompa-
nied with great conversation.
The meal started with appetizers, drinks, and then
some of the best steak, shrimp, meatloaf, mashed
potatoes, fried green beans and vegetable salad. For
dessert we had something called Chocolate Pyramid and
some of the best bread pudding we’ve ever had. The
restaurant then served a complimentary desert of fresh
berries, and real whipped cream. This was the best
dinner and dessert of all time.
We would like to take this time to thank both Gene
and Mark for such a great day.
Day 3
January 25-27,2012
We started off the day with breakfast at our motel
followed by a visit to Oklahoma City’s Alfred
P. Murrah Federal Building Memorial & Museum.
Most of us were around on April 19, 1995 - which
was the day this tragedy took place and from various
parts of the country when we learned of this catas-
trophe, via the television, radio, newspaper, or just
word of mouth. Truly a mind adjustment, a shock to
one’s awareness to be onsite and to learn first-hand
from the survivors, all the various different rescue
teams, the media, as well all the International atten-
tion that was given to this attack, the events that
took place that day and lives lost.
At 9:03 am, the bombing took place, claiming 168
lives. A totally different perspective to be at ground
Zero.
Then it was back to TMC for lunch and some of
the best homemade Hispanic food and sauce we’ve
ever had the pleasure to taste. Kent Frates, one of the
founders of TMC, joined us for lunch and shared
some of the early days with TMC. A look into the
history books from one of the writers of this history.
Mark said, “ We need to keep our business small,
family oriented, grow the business to 20 or 30 good part-
ners, to about 5 million a year and everyone will be hap-
py, always remembering we need to always help every-
one that is in the picture.”
Once you reach the partnership level with TMC;
which would be like going through college and receiving
your Bachelors, then Masters and then on to obtaining
your Doctorate. This is when the real work begins and
the real money is made.
After lunch we received our Graduation Certificates
and parting gifts from TMC University, and from our
support staff, our Team, our better halves.
Back to the airport and our return back to our
families. What a gift
