Highest Performance from the Market Leader

Linear Tape O pen (LTO ) U ltrium Technology is an

open standard for tape drives developed by H P,

IBM and C ertance. LTO U ltrium has quickly pene-

trated the m arket and is today the m arket leader

in the 100 G B capacity and above sector.

W ith its up to 400 G B com pressed capacity and

m ax. 216 G B/hr. transfer rate, the transtec 7600

top m odel w ith LTO -2 drive is suited for dem and-

ing, tim e-critical backup tasks in the netw ork. Fur-

therm ore, transtec offers LTO -1 m odels in full and

half height w ith 200 G B com pressed capacity. The

com pact design of the entry-level half height

LTO -1 drive needs only a 5.25slot, lending it to

integration in rack server system s.

Intelligent Technology

By m eans of a special data rate m atching (D RM )

process, transtec 7600 tape drives also operate on

slow er hosts w ith an optim al transfer rate w ithout

the notorious shoe-shining effect. The DRM

technology enhances the reliability and prolongs

the service life of the drive by reducing w ear and

m edia abrasion. The O ne-Button D isaster Recovery

(O BD R) function additionally provides you w ith a

sm art system restore m ethod (bare m etal recov-

ery). In the event of total server failure, you boot

directly from the backup m edium and thus start

the autom atic system and data recovery.

The m edia also display long durability w ith up to a

m illion cycles. The drive autom atically detects

w hen a tape needs to be changed. Even if a tape

is dam aged, LTO technology can guarantee data

recovery for a dam age rate of up to 12.5 percent.

The product attributes are com plem ented by

m any further intelligent features - such as internal

cleaning heads or a cartridge m em ory for faster

data access.

configuration exactly tailored to their needs.

three-year express replacem ent service, as w ell as

N etVault 7.1 Server Edition backup softw are (see

page 196). N etVault is renow n for its convenience

of use and offers outstanding functionality,

perform ance and scalability under W indow s, Linux

and U nix.
