The profiles of Siena, San Gimignano andMonteriggioni are easily seen, as is the broad hulk of MonteAmiata, some 100 kilometers to the south. The view isunblemished, dynamic and unmistakably Chianti. Thegrounds reflect an attention to detail, quality and style that isthe hallmark of today's entrepreneurial class of travelers. Theentire property is aesthetically appealing in a contemporaryway, and functionally ideal. We know food and drink are a key allure of a Tuscan vacation,and Tramonti delivers on this as well. A genial local cook andher professional chef husband run the kitchen and serve upexcellent meals on request. Pizza nights are fun for all ages,and if you want to watch and learn as they roll out hand madepasta or prepare the dough for fresh focaccia, you are verywelcome to stand around the kitchen -- nibbling on bits ofcheese and dried tomatoes with herbs from the garden'sott'olio'. The owners are rehabilitating their vines and willkeep improving their own bottled Chianti. A limitedproduction of extra virgin olive oil is available as the harvestpermits. The kitchen is modern, bright and well equipped andlaid out. Both a traditional forno and a modern gas barbecueare available for your own cooking pleasure or to be attendedto by the staff. All this along with various inviting options fortaking sun and shade in turn, both an outdoor covered diningloggia as well as a living-room styled pergola for loungingand generally enjoying life.

The estate was purchased four years ago by an internationalfamily who rebuilt, designed and furnished the property fortheir own enjoyment first and foremost, choosing thishandsome olive and wine estate, that includes two old stonehouses in a panoramic setting an easy five minute drive fromCastellina-in-Chianti. These discerning owners are creative,thoughtful and respectful of the place they have chosen andthe particular community of staff, gardeners, localentrepreneurs and talented craftspeople who have made realtheir unique vision. The local team that runs Tramonti hasbeen in charge of the property through several owners andtakes tremendous pride in the work they do. Without a doubtyou will be looked after and fussed over in all the best ways,lavished with the special kind of hospitality for which Italiansare justifiably famous.

• This property evolves on many levels and may beunsuitable for anyone unsteady on their feet.

• The guest house will be closed when only the main house isrented. Guests will only have access to the billiard table whenrenting the guest house with the main house.

• Low slung cars are not recommended. The approach roadto the house is rustic and shared with a local Cinta Senesepig farm.
