Inventory and Content of Training

The aim of the I. Training is to strengthen the laboratory based biosecurity rules in lab in Turkey for biological materials.

Objective of the program:

· To give general knowledge of project

· This project is to raise awareness in the matter of biosafety in healthcare officials other than physicians working with clinical samples: spread exact and current information regarding biosafety with the training of the personnel and via digital platform by developing a face-to-face, interactive, and standardized training programme.

· To give training on standardized education programme.

In this module both theoretical lectures will be given and practical studies will be done. Program (Annex 1) is attached to this file.

Participants

Total 21 participants attened (Annex 2):

· 9 Biologist: 3 comes from the university laboratories, 2 comes from the goverment laboratories, 4 comes from private sector research laboratories.

· 5 Technician: 5 comes from the university laboratories.

· 1 Dentists: 1 comes from the goverment laboratories

· 2 Pharmacist: 2 comes from the goverment laboratories.

· 1 Nurse: 1 comes from private sector laboratories.

· 2 Veterinarian: 2 comes from the university laboratories.

· 1 Food Engineering: 1 comes from the goverment laboratories.

Achievements

Abilities and Receptiveness of Participants

Although there were big differences on knowledge on biosecurity rules in lab among the participants, the group’s harmony was very well. Their expactations were as same as other groups that learning whole biosecurity rules in lab. Because of the main aim of the I. Training

is to give general knowledge on biosecurity rules in lab, the objective of the course was declared again at the beginning of the I. Training in Ankara. All outputs within the scope of the project are introduced in participants. The project outputs were evaluated by the participants. The biosecurity test questions were done in the I. training by the participants. We evaluated final result of pre and post test.

Comments an achievements of participants

At the end of the I. training the special session for evaluation of the training was organized and the participiants declared that the objectives of the training were realized. They emphasized that they renewed their knowledge, developed their self confidence on laboratory rules. But at least they learnt that to who and how they will organized and take responsibility in laboratory. They explained that they will have improved their lab biosecurity rules and trained their technicians and other related lab workers for lab biosecurity rules as soon as possible. Upon the suggestions we received in pilot training, we included lawyer Mustafa Köroğlu in our all trainings. Thus, the participants learned about the legal aspects of laboratory biosecurity and the legal responsibilities of laboratory staff and managers.

Evaluation

Participiant evaluation: Pre and post test were done for participiants (Annex 3). Their knowledge were increased prominently. The participants pleased information on the legal requirements of laboratory safety.

Trainers evaluation: All trainers were found successful and the result of their evaluation is 5 point (highest mark is 5).

The course evaluation: Because of the service of the hotel, tecnical servies and technic materials (internet speed, computer quality vb.) were very convenient. The restaurant’s service for lunch was very good. Almost all of them declared that they were satisfied from the training program, their expectations were realized, the training ambiance was very warm and friendly that they both learned and enjoyed.

Comments and Recommendations for future training

· Especially after biosecurity training of biological origin, biosecurity against chemicals should be provided as training.

· It was very useful to teach legal laws on biosecurity.

· The number of trainings should be increased.
