FEEDBACK FROM TRAINEES
The participants found the workshop on “Entrepreneur Development and Skill Training for Ripening Chambers”
very informative and felt that more workshops like this should be organized by NCCD . The information given by
experts and faculty was a great learning experience, giving them an overview of the fruit ripening sector too.
They were pleased to visit Narang Cold Storage and Ice Factory as they got the chance to learn the ripening
process and to experience the Preloading, Sorting, grading, and operation and control of ripening chambers. The
trainees found the program is a practical hand on experience and helpful in understanding the operations of a
ripening chamber and developing their entrepreneurial skills.

The faculty was very keen to spread awareness about Entrepreneur Development and Skill Training for
Ripening Chambers
They appreciated the efforts of NCCD.
They thanked NCCD and ICE for organizing the visit to Narang Cold Storage and Ice Factory which was
an excellent learning experience for the students as well as the faculty.
They wanted the training to have a mention about the proven ways of identifying carbide ripened fruits.
They want to have this type of training program every year in their campus.

Entrepreneur Development and Skill Training for Ripening Chambers
College of Agriculture, Indore, Madhya Pradesh: As per the agenda of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr.
Narendra Modi, Agriculture is the driving force of the economy. The government is laying special emphasis on
development of the agriculture sector and encouraging the citizens to come up with projects and businesses to
support this sector. The National Centre of Cold Chain Development NCCD has introduced a Two Day training
program on “Entrepreneur Development and Training for Ripening Chambers.” throughout the country. The
course will be offered by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India (Carried out by
National Centre for Cold Chain development (NCCD)-the nodal government of India body for cold chain along
with ICE Centre of Excellence).
The training is aimed at Entrepreneur Development and awareness regarding the modern methods of Fruit
Ripening, hazards of Carbide Ripened fruits and the support available from the government to set up fruit
ripening chambers.
The workshop was successfully conducted in College of Agriculture, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on 06th
& 7th
January 2016 in collaboration with College of Agriculture, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The workshop was attended
by the students, Faculties and the entrepreneurs and was a great learning experience for all.

PREPARATION FOR THE SESSIONS:
After receiving the approvals for conducting trainings from National Centre for Cold Chain Development
(NCCD), we contacted College of Agriculture, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, related companies, agriculture
universities and bank representatives to give wide publicity about the training program to the students.
The ripening unit in Indore, Madhya Pradesh were pleased to open their doors for the field visit and were also
enthusiastic to share their entrepreneurial journey with the trainees. Mr. Abhimanyu Narang, Director of the
ripening units respectively Co-ordinate effectively with the organizers to ensure participation by all concerned in
the industry.

AGENDA: GENERATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL
OPPORTUNITIES;
The objective of the program was to:
Create awareness about the entrepreneurial opportunities available in Ripening Chambers
Develop Skill for ripening Chambers
Train Human resources in banana ripening technology
Educate the trainees about the harmful effects of Carbide ripened fruits
Educate the trainees in real time conditions to give them hands on experience
Promotion of standards, scientific procedures and best practices in banana ripening.
Assist in providing employment opportunities to the trained candidates through our existing network of
promoters of banana ripening chambers.
Educate the potential entrepreneurs about
o The financial viability of setting up a Banana ripening chamber.
o The Technical standards on Banana Ripening established by Ministry of Agriculture.
o New MIDH guidelines and financial assistance available
o Financial assistance available from Indian Banks
Provide feedback concerning future training needs, and participate in the design of annual training
activities.
The prospective employers i.e.: ripening chamber owners allowed practical trainings in their facility and actively
participated with the trainees, and clears the doubts of trainees during the practical session.
They have been registered in our database and will be in touch for the preparation of DPRs etc.
Actual employment generated will be monitored and reported to the NCCD
