First aid stations can be found in both tournament areas - at Kuopio Hall as well as at Puijonlaakso. The first aid stations are open during the games. A first aid response team will also be present at the opening ceremony on Thursday and at the Jaf-fa-disco on Saturday. PLEASE NOTE!• Teams must carry their own first aid kit.• It is recommended by the organizers that every team has at least basic knowledge of first aid skills.• Teams should have enough water/ beverages at the tour-nament locations, Elastoplast or plaster, finger tape and cold bags, at least one set per each tournament day.• The coach must know about any possible illnesses and/or medication of his/her team’s players.

Kuopio has hosted Power Cup 31 years ago! Since then the tournament has expanded from121 teams in 1987 to 841 teams this year! Luckily there is enough space for all of us in Kuopio. The city and its neighboring municipalities have long traditions in volleyball, so let´s stick to those traditions! “Volleyball and friends” is the answer we always get when asking child-ren, what is the best part in Power Cup. Now we get to play nonstop four days with our friends. Let´s enjoy the Finnish volleyball summer and the start for our summer holidays!

Kuopio is a lively city of events, and especially in summerti-me us residents and visitors enjoy a wide variety of events. Power Cup, the biggest volleyball youth tournament in the World, fits to Kuopio perfectly. The theme “Thank you for Friendship” is familiar to us in Kuopio. The theme means the work done in Kuopio to avoid bullying in schools.Power Cup´s theme “VOLLEYBALL. FRIENDSHIP.” also re-minds us of the importance of friendship and playing as a team. In Kuopio you will meet lots of children and teens, as many high-class schools draw pupils and students to Kuopio. In addition to University of Eastern Finland, other inspiring opportunities for learning are provided by Savonia University

of Applied Sciences, Savo Vocational College – SAKKY, and six Upper secondary schools in Kuopio. A network of sports academies makes it possible for sportsmen and sportswomen to combine daily training with their studies in a convenient manner. You have a tight schedule with lots of volleyball matches. Yet I hope you will find time to get to know Kuopio and experience our attractions and inspiring atmosphere.

We are happy that you all have decided to come play volleyball in Kuopio – and in such huge numbers! 10.000 young players and support team members will be seen and heard in our city during the event!

• Accommodation in classrooms or gyms in schools. Please take your own sleeping bag and pillow, the organizer provides mattresses for international guests.• Meals from Thursday lunch to Sunday lunch (Thu-Sun pass) or from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch (Fri -Sun pass) according to the tournament pass pur-

MATCHESThousands of matches will be played during Power Cup. Please check your own match schedule and court well in advance either at http://www.powercup.info/en/play/match-schedule-and-results.html or on the Power APP (only in Finnish) Always be on time at your court!!

ZERO TOLERANCEAt the Power Cup tournament smoking as well as the use of alcohol and other intoxicants is strictly prohibit-ed. The organizer of the tournament has the right to remove the entire team from the tournament if these rules are violated by any member of the team.

“THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP”Thank you for your friendship”, is the theme in the city of Kuopio to prevent any kind of bullying. At Power Cup we take care of our team mates, respect our opponents and show good manners everywhere we go.

MEALSLunches and dinners are served in Kuopio Hall, break-fasts and evening snacks in your accommodation school. There will be lots of diners and long queues. Do not rush, there is enough food for everybody. For smooth dining check the menu and instructions.

GET THE RIGHT GEARPower Cup is an outdoor event. We cannot influence the weather, but we can choose what to wear. Having the right clothing is essential in making your stay enjo-yable, whether you are a player or a viewer.Remember your drink bottle!As the team manager, remember to have some first aid kits for some small injuries.

LOST AND FOUNDAll lost items found at the tournament area will be taken to the Power Cup info desk. Please check here first, if you have lost any of your belongings. After the tourna-ment you can file a lost and found claim on our website. We will store all lost items until 30.6., valuable belon-gings until 31.12.

MATCH SCHEDULES AND RESULTS SERVICEElectronic scoresheet will be used for the first time in Power Cup. The result service at Power Cup tournament can be found online. To ensure a quick update of the match re-sults and a real time result service, the referee of each game must bring the scoresheet to the collection point (tents) immediately after the game. You can find five collection points at the tournament venue and you can leave the scoresheet at any of those collection points. You can view the match schedules and results by scanning the QR code below to your smartphone or tablet. Match schedules and results are also available online at http.//www.powercup.info/en/play/matchschedulean-dresults.html

E-SCORE SHEET IN POWER CUPThe e-score sheet will be used in Power Cup for the first time, mainly in age groups from N22 to C. Thanks to this service the matches can be found online. E-scoresheet speeds things up and makes the result service even quicker. If you don’t have an internet connection avail-able, you can use the computers at the Power Info in-side Kuopio Hall. Due to cancellations etc., there may be changes to the schedules, so check the schedule of your catego-ry before leaving your place of accommodation in the morning. Use our Power Cup App to check match re-sults and schedules. You can download the application from the Power Cup webpage! If you have any questions regarding match sched-ules and results, please contact our result service man-ager Ms Kaisu Polso at +358 400 910 327 or our com-petition manager Mr Jari Lankinen at +358 40 131 2454.

Kuopio has a very good public transport network with bus connections from every accommodation school to Kuopio Market Place in the city centre. All accommodation schools are in the public trans-portation district A. Local busses operate on weekdays, as well as on the weekend from early in the morning un-til late in the evening. Public transportation is an excel-lent option to travel smoothly during the whole event.Day tickets can be downloaded to your smartphone. Bus drivers sell only the single tickets.Ticket prices and more information can be found at www.vilkku.kuopio.fi/english

SECURITY, TRAFFIC AND CROWDSPower Cup is a massive event and moves thousands of people. The traffic will be busy to and from the venue. Therefore, it is crucial to keep safety in mind both as a driver and pedestrian. There will be fenced service routes on the tournament area. It is strictly forbidden to walk on these areas. There are no parking spaces for cars, so we kindly recommend you leave your car at one

of the chargeable car parks in the city centre. It is only appr. 1 km walk from the city centre to the tournament area.

NONSTOP BUS IN TOURNAMENT AREAA nonstop bus shuttling between Kuopio Hall and Pui-jonlaakso is a convenient way to reach the Puijonlaakso tournament area. You have free access with your tour-nament pass. There is no ticket sale on the bus. Bus stops are marked in the map in this guide. The stops are at Kuopio Hall (lower parking area of the University of Applied Sciences), Suurmäentie (close to courts 4 and 5) and Puijo skiing stadium.

AccommodationOnce the team arrives at the accommodation school, the club leader checks in at the info desk of the school. The club leaders must have already sent a team com-position list through the registration system. School premises have been allocated in advance accordingly.

THE CLUB LEADER’S TASKS AT THE RECEPTION• Hand out two copies of the compiled accommoda-

tion lists (including players, coaches etc.; including information on other people needing accommoda-tion or claiming passes, e.g. bus drivers). One copy is to be handed over to the personnel at your accom-modation school. The second copy is for the club´s contact person.

• Take and sign off the tournament passes and Power Cup T-shirts.

• Check the accommodation rooms and sign the ac-commodation agreement.

• Help your club in checking into the given rooms and make sure that there is a list of names on every class-room door.

• Take part in the accommodation briefing at the school in question.

OTHER ACCOMMODATION INSTRUCTIONS• At least one adult is accommodated in each class-

room and acts as the room manager responsible for the incidents in the classroom. To guarantee safety, the accommodation personnel’s instructions must

be obeyed.• Entrance only through the designated doors.

• Doors to the accommodation classrooms must not be locked.• Smoking is prohibited in the school area as well as in the whole tournament area.• Possession of and drinking of alcohol or intoxicants in the school area and in the

whole tournament area is prohibited. The organizer of the tournament has the right to remove the entire club from the tournament immediately if these rules are violated.

• Practicing and playing with the ball indoors, making noise and littering are prohibited.

• To guarantee fire safety, the walking lanes must not be blocked.

• Access to schools only with a tournament pass. Per-sons with a visitor’s pass are not allowed to enter the accommodation facilities.

• All objects and items that are the school’s property must be left untouched.

• For safety reasons, coffee makers, kettles, extra radi-ators and TV sets are not allowed in rooms.

• Silence is 11 pm through 6 am. The school doors are locked at those hours.

• The organizer is not accountable for items or valua-bles left in the accommodation rooms.

CHECKING OUT• Before leaving the accommodation, teams must clean

their accommodation rooms (litter, sand, splashes of beverages).

• The accommodation inspector checks the rooms to-gether with the club leader.

• The Check Out agreement is signed.• The inspector gives the team permission to leave.

If the accommodation space is not cleaned or vanda-lism or other damage has been done to the rooms, the costs will be invoiced from the club in question. Brea-king the rules can lead to disqualification from the tour-nament.

Power Cup side events 2018OPENING CEREMONYThe official opening ceremony for the Power Cup tournament will be held AT KUOPIO MARKET PLACE ON THURSDAY 7.6. STARTING AT 19.00. The award-winning Finnish singer ISAC ELLIOT will be performing at the ceremony.

TOURNAMENT DISCO – JAFFA-DISCOJaffa-disco is a MUST in Power Cup! Do not miss the disco! This year there will be a glow party! Wear white and paint your face and let´s dance! Remember to share your photos.You are the star in Jaffa-disco! The memorable and mysterious atmosphere is gained with epic UV-illumination and showy lighting technology. A top DJ will get everybody

PLEASE NOTE:• Lunch and dinner

will be served inside Kuopio Hall next to the tournament venue in the Kuo-pio s Hall area. Breakfast and evening snacks are served at the accommodation schools.

• You can access the canteen in Kuopio Hall by presenting your tournament pass.

• All meals are served in disposable plates and cups.

• As you enter the meals section, first take a plas-tic bag in which you collect bread, butter and cutlery.

• The personnel will give you salad and warm meal.

• There are separate lines for those who have noti-fied a special diet. Please choose the respective line. You can also always ask the kitchen per-sonnel for help.

• Once you have received your meal, move ahead to the eating area.

• After your meal, take the rubbish and refuse to the waste collection outside the exit.

• Please behave neatly and follow the instructions in the dining area.

• We will all have a more pleasant environment, if everyone collects their rubbish and keeps the canteen clean.

POWER PLAZA – ENTERTAINMENT AND MEETING POINTLet´s meet at Power Plaza! This year Power Plaza is located indoors in Kuopio Hall in the shelter of possible rain or hot sunlight. Come and meet players from all countries, make friends and enjoy the Power Cup feeling. There will be a lot of activities and shopping opportunities. The Power Plaza area continues outside, where you can explore some interesting heavy vehicles such as a massive forest harvester and emergency vehicles or take a jump on the bouncing castle. If you fancy a bite, taste some Finnish pancakes, berries or sausages. The Power Plaza will open at 10.00 on Thursday and at 9.00 from Friday to Sunday.
