ungenerously.
Foreign Policy on leaving the gates was bumped by Hollywood Chief, which shifted out. In

Hollywood Chief bumped at the start. Approaching the 50 metres was steadied and shifted
out to obtain clear running around the heels of Foreign Policy, which shifted ground when
laying in.
De Valor when questioned, rider D. Smith explained from the inside gate he had been asked
to take a sit behind the lead, however; after being crossed, the mare was not comfortable in
behind and failed to respond to his riding from the 600 metres. A post race veterinary
examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Race 2 TURNBULL PLUMBING PLATE - 1200 metres:
Palaios acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer B. Jenkins who advised that the colt

Nordic Red began awkwardly. Near the 500 metres was steadied when tightened by Sophie
Darling, which momentarily rolled in. Rider C. Robertson reported that the mare, who had
ear muffs added to its gear for todays race, relaxed during the run more than expected and
consequently got out of its ground in the early stages of the event. He added when placed
under pressure Nordic Red did not respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination
did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Tryst Again in the early and middle stages raced greenly with its head up.

Assertive Star when questioned regarding tactics, S. Arnold advised that at Sandown on
February 17, 2016 the colt was severely hampered at the start and for this reason settled
further back than the stable anticipated. He added that today with the small field they
expected to position in the first four or five, however; when caught wide without cover in the
early stages, he pressed forward to take up a position behind the leaders with cover.
Miss Scandilous (fifth placegetter) rider A. Mallyon advised connections that the filly may
be better suited with the addition of a tongue tie to its gear.
Race 5 CERVUS EQUIPMENT HANDICAP - 1717 metres:
Dubrovnik connections advised over the shorter distance and from the wider gate, will be
ridden more conservatively compared to its last start. Took up a rearward position. Layed in

position.

race without being fully tested.
Linga No Longa when questioned regarding tactics, App P. Moloney explained that he was
instructed to be more positive in the smaller field, however; rather than race wide without
cover he elected to push forward to take up a position just off the leader near the 1500 metres.
Race 6 BROWN WIGG HANDICAP - 1400 metres:
Another Martini on leaving the gates was bumped heavily by Our Skeeta, which in turn was
bumped heavily by My Naughty Hoaks, which shifted in.
Our Skeeta bumped heavily at the start. App J. Payne reported after being caught wide in the
early stages she allowed the gelding to stride and join the lead near the 800 metres. When
questioned regarding the success of the geldings first up performance, trainer I. Jones
explained that he had planned to retire Our Skeeta but after doing well in a new paddock, the
gelding indicated it may be up for another preparation. He said at a recent trial at Sale over
800 metres, Our Skeeta finished off the trial well, indicating it may be better placed first up in
a middle distance event. He added that it was not his intention for Our Skeeta to race in a
forward position but given its success today over the similar distance, he would expect the
gelding to be ridden positively from the gate and in a similar manner to todays race.
Shanghai Rooster began awkwardly unbalancing J. Todd momentarily in the saddle and
consequently losing ground.
My Naughty Hoaks near the 1300 metres when racing wide got its head up and raced
ungenerously for several strides when being shifted in to obtain cover.
Eastern Peak raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Rider L. Meech reported
that the gelding choked down and this had a detrimental effect on its race today. A post race
veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.

passing the 400 metres until approaching the 250 metres was held up for a run.
Race 7 DONALDA MOTORS MAFFRA CUP - 1000 metres:
Sunday Escape blundered on leaving the gates. Rider M. Allen reported that the gelding,
first up from a spell and with the topweight allocated of 60 kg, peaked on its run near the 200
metres. He added that Sunday Escape would benefit from todays race. A post race veterinary
examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Danuki began awkwardly and then tightened.
Illustrious Lad began awkwardly, shifted out, and tightened Danuki onto the hindquarters of
Jungle Edge, which was turned inwards.
Jungle Edge was turned sideways after being contacted on the hindquarters leaving the gates.
In the straight layed in proving difficult for D. Gauci to ride out in his normal manner.
After the running of this race Stewards upgraded the track rating to a Good 3 at 4.37 p.m.
Race 8 ANDERSON REMOVALS HANDICAP - 1100 metres:
Somethinghappening in the middle stages raced keenly. Rider D. Gauci reported that the
gelding was better suited to tracks with more give in them. A post race veterinary
examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore and will require a Veterinary
Certificate of fitness prior to racing again.
Tycoon Felix approaching the 200 metres when struck with the whip, shifted out abruptly
before being straightened by I. Gundogdu.
Ethicist App Ben Thompson reported he felt there was something amiss with the gelding as
it gave ground quickly in the straight. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any
obvious abnormalities.
Go One Better (third placegetter) rider D. Stackhouse reported that the gelding raced flat and
may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer P. Worthington confirmed that the
gelding will now be spelled and directed towards tracks with give in them.
Valuable Star rider A. Mallyon reported that the mare did not appreciate todays track
condition.

without its approved gear (ear muffs). Tightened at the start and lost ground. Made the
crossing at the 1900 metres awkwardly.
The Tinker slow to begin and shortly after the start shifted in and was checked from the
heels of Tia Dalma. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
Bloukrans began awkwardly, shifted in tightening Trevor and King Joy onto Proclamation.
In the incident, Trevor lost ground. When caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to
stride and join the lead passing the 1600 metres. App P. Moloney could offer no explanation
for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious
abnormalities.
King Joy tightened at the start.
Taqneen began awkwardly.
Prospector slow to muster speed.
Chadra Boy when wide in the early stages was allowed to stride and take up a more forward
position.
Tia Dalma for most of the event raced wide without cover. Passing the 400 metres was
momentarily steadied when tightened between Proclamation, which shifted in slightly and
Wright Opinion, which was taken out by Bloukrans, which was also taken out by King Joy.
