We are now contemplating fil-ing a case before the SupremeCourt for it to compel the Comelecto act, aniya.

Remember that the Presi-dent asked for a live trial andcertainly we would l ik e theMaguindanao massacre trial to

be covered live. The decision inthe Supreme Court, thats a littlerestrictive, ani presidentialspokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

I hope that they can revisittheir decisioneven their deci-sion not to cover it live. I dontknow what prompted them torevisit or to change their mindon the live coverage of Maguin-danao massacre, aniya.

It is important for usboththe public and mediato be

able to know whats going on inthe Maguindanao massacre tri-al, dinagdag ni Lacierda.

The department is still notaccepting that completely be-cause we still need the output

of the Philippine Coast Guard(PCG), aniya.

It is too late for industryleaders to raise their objectionsnow. They should have raisedtheir objections in 2005 whenthe Philippines was about to rat-ify the FCTC, ani Santiago.

I challenge every singlemember of this chamber to readthe FCTC because that is inter-national law. It binds our Philip-pine government, ani Santiago.

C Yamsuan
