The scene described is See You At The Pole in the auditorium this past Wednesday. At SJCS, we pray. Read on…. Moms In Prayer (MIP) by Rebecca Miller, MIP Director Twice a month, SJCS moms gather together to pray. We are the SJCS chapter of MIP - Moms In Prayer which is in each state in the USA and in 140+ countries around the world. At SJCS, MIP has been meeting for at least 11 years. One of the MIP key verses is Philippians 4:6-7. "Don't worry about anything. Instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this you will experience God's peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (NLT) We pray for SJCS and for our children. We take great delight in this. A few thoughts from our moms - - "We bring your requests before God and trust Him." - "I think it is a complete privilege to be able to pray on behalf of those on staand in our SJCS community and that God's presence is very evident when we gather to pray." - "Moms in Prayer is the one I'd keep if I had to drop all other SJCS commitments." - "I have been humbled and in awe of God when I have witnessed specific prayers be answered for the SJCS community (the year when Dan asked us to pray for 280 students and that's how many enrolled), and when specific requests for my children have been realized." As I presented MIP at the last SJCS faculty and stameeting, I saw face after face after face of individuals who had shared prayer requests with MIP and had their prayers answered in God's perfect way. What a touching and blessed moment! MIP would love to pray even more for the SJCS community. Send your praises and prayer requests our way at [email protected]. Know that all is kept confidential. We will follow God's Word as found in Psalm 5:3b - "I lay my requests before Him and wait in expectation." Can't wait to see how God will work at SJCS this year! Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School.

The 3rd Graders are leaning about roles in science teams. These include messenger, timekeeper, and coordinator. Mrs DenOuden explained that each role is critical to the success of the project and that each role is needed. Messengers: In charge of relaying each groups questions with the teacher.Timekeepers: In charge of keeping the team on task and working within the time provided.Coordinators: Is not the “boss”. In charge of making sure the group stays focused and encourages the team to move forward.

When the class reviewed the roles, they discussed how each student is created with special God-given talents. Discussions included that we might be more skilled in one area over another. Each student picked what area they felt they were most suited for. Mrs. DenOuden then built Science Teams using one student from each “roles” group. The results were teams that worked together, encouraged one another and completed the tasks on time.

During the follow up discussion students connected this activity to this month’s chapel verse, Ephesians 4:16. The reason our science teams were successful was because each member worked together to do their part, just like in the body of Christ. Pictures of the class activities can be found at sjcstigers on Instagram.

October Box Tops Bring in your Box Tops during the month of October as part of a classroom competition. Trim the Box Top labels from the packaging of a wide range of household products, and SJCS will receive money from these companies. The winning class gets a party. Funds raised through Box Tops for Education are used for campus beautification.

Softball The softball team is now 2-0 following their game against the Achiever Hawks. Our defense did not allow anything past the infield. Our hitting, while starting slow, came alive in the 3rd inning with 7 runs. We look to a tough game Monday 9/29 at Los Gatos Christian. Follow us on Instagram for game highlights and updates.

CardBoard Challenge It's amazing how quickly something can come out of nothing. On Friday, what started as a heap of cardboard transformed into beautifully innovative arcade games thanks to student imaginations and creativity.

Teams started in a whiteboard session, discussing the games they wanted to build and the best way to build them. Together, they developed a plan. After lunch, we built in full force! Students made a mad dash for the cardboard and supplies they needed. They taped. They painted. They created. Their hard work really paid off!

Thank you to all of you who helped the day happen. The joy on our students' faces as they used their God-given gifts makes all the work worth it!

Come join us at the Walk-A-Thon this Saturday to admire and play their creative arcade games!

Cross Country Competition was fierce at Montgomery Hill last week. There were 17 schools in attendance with 80 + runners in each of the 6 races.

Dylan completed the difficult 2 mile course in 15:31, finishing in the top 20. Colby came in 19th place in the open race, completing his run in 18:17. Way to go Tigers!

Flag Football The Tiger Boys had a a successful week earning victories over Achiever (12-6), and Legacy (48-28). Facing Achiever, the boys brought their hard hats and went to work on defense, stifling Achievers offense, holding them to one touchdown all game.

Highlighted by the play of quarterback Joe W. the Tiger offense exploded for a season high 48 points to earn the victory over Legacy. All the boys did a great job contributing to the victories. Keep up the good work, Tigers!

Coffee Cart The CPTA will be hosting their monthly coffee cart this Friday, October 3 from 8am - 8:30am. Be sure to stop by for a cup and a visit. A great time to finalize your details for the WAT.
