NIT Silchar, an Institute of
National Importance under
the NIT Act was established
in 1967 as Regional
Engineering College, Silchar.
In year 2002, it was upgraded
to the status of an NIT from a
Regional Engineering
College. It is situated on a
sprawling campus spread
over 600 acres of land on the
outskirts of Silchar amid

Thundermarch has been a pioneer in
promoting the north eastern rock bands. It
has been a launch pad for new bands, for
entertaining metal heads, for propagating
various social awareness programmes
against AIDS, drug abuse and for reflecting
how music binds the whole north-east
empowering people against terrorism,
communism and racism. Boomerang
,Magdalene Dr LUKE are mere examples of
the launch-pad Thundermarch has
