THREE COURSE MODEL • In each course, the integration of Earth and Space Science (ESS) adds value to both disciplines in the pair. • ESS phenomena can serve as an engaging motivation for studying the other disciplines. • The choice of which ESS PEs would be included with biology, chemis- try, and physics courses was based on their conceptual fit. • Individual districts can integrate PEs between courses differently as long as they strive to ensure that all students meet all the standards. • Placing the most engaging and exciting classes as the first courses in the sequence may recruit more students into STEM classes (and possible STEM related careers and college majors).
