Two Holiday Events: • Traditional Girls Home Christmas Party—at Casa Eudes, in TJ. Saturday, December 20th, 2008. There will be

food, fun, and personalized gifts for the 37 girls in the home. Thanks to everyone who took a green gift suggestion card. Today is the deadline for turning in your gift. Please don’t forget—a child is hoping for it.

• Annual Epiphany Celebration—Monday, January 12th, 2008. This year we are scaling back because of border restrictions transporting the gifts to Tijuana. We will host a pizza party for 100 school children in Nueva Esperanza. Please take a red card (or 2 or 3) from the display at the back of church and donate the suggested gifts by January 3rd. We are requesting specific, practical items this year like tennis shoes, backpacks, and sweat suits, not so many toys. No time to shop? There are cash suggestion cards to help improve the rustic little school. Please join us for the wrapping party on Saturday, January 3rd in the Parish Hall to help us prepare for the Epiphany Celebration.

Give Food for The Poor this Christmas Season—like non-perishable rice, beans and pasta. Leave your donations in the back of the church. Pero, ¿qué es un profeta? El Judaísmo, Cristianismo e Islamismo reconocen a ciertas personas como profetas. La palabra hebrea nabi significa portavoz, o profeta. Los nebiim eran encargados por Dios para una tarea especial. Así por ejemplo, Moisés fue encargado para liberar al pueblo de la esclavitud egipcia, Elías para recordarle la palabra de Dios cuando se apartaba de la alianza, y Jeremías para denunciar las corrupciones y anunciarle el castigo. Cuando tradujeron al griego el Antiguo Testamento, la palabra nabi fue traducida como prophetes (profeta). Esto indica un intérprete de la voluntad de Dios. Los profetas griegos eran oráculos que adivinaban el futuro, por lo cual mucha gente confunde al profeta con un adivino. El profeta según el Cristianismo es un testigo (Juan 1:6-8, 19-28) del poder de Cristo y la palabra de Dios.
