Empathy Journey
Say hello and respond to the inquiry….
What is the story that has brought you to this table……….?
What were the themes, what was surprising?
Consider what the words ‘my purpose’ and ‘my place’ mean to you
You took time in your pairs to explore what the words meant to you. The resulting images touched on family, warmth, strength, and the desire to make a difference to
people, society and the planet. Each of you made meaning of the words and you received appreciation and a question from another pair.

Get the thinking out into a structure, have fun, build it, shift it, get insights about relationships, gaps, and potential areas that need more focus. Use colour and size as metaphors and plenty of stuff to use
to connect……..
Thinking with your hands, take the idea and make it
It’s a tangible way of seeing your idea out there and understanding it better
You may find that it works or it doesn’t work – either way it doesn't matter – you will have more information that you had before you prototyped it
2D paper mind maps, storyboards, images…see it!
3D structures build it with stuff, boxes, lego…shape it!
4D people Stakeholder map, role play, human prototypes…feel it!

Challenging our clients to:
take risks go further
disrupt
And listen…
As always when you work in this way with open mind, open heart and open will there are universal themes which connect the emerging thinking
This creates the platform for further conversations and the next iteration of
‘How might we……?’ Relationships are everything; we need deep, honest, and authentic relationships with all of the people we work with to engage with the emerging future
Conversation, challenge, creativity and collaboration are the edges of all of the relationships in the future
Client is the expert, we need to get to our learning edge and get them to theirs: we are thinking equals
Risk is shared in the adventure to explore the future, it’s ok to be vulnerable
We are the work, we are the impact, we are the role models
Inquire, inquire, inquire, listen, listen, listen
Bring other seemingly unconnected people into the room
