The passion that was put forth toward this journey couldn’t have been accomplished without the love and care of those close and dear to me. I want to give special thanks to the guidance that Christopher Bardt has given me during thesis as he handed me advise which enabled me to developed a better understanding of the meanings within, and beyond our work as architects. Glossary of terms:

Impression - An eff ect, feeling, or image retained as a conse-quence of experience. A mark produced on a surface by pressure.

Domestic - Fond of home life and household aff airs

Density - Complexity of structure or content

Compress - To make more compact by or as if by pressing

In-between - the observation of visible, fabricated connections.

Generics - Relating to or descriptive of an entire group or class; general


Abstract:

The casting of memories as imprints of past events is the conception/ concept/ conceit/ proposition and method of my thesis studies. These castings are the impressions of encap-sulated stories based from remembrance and daydreams of the realm of the in-between, of the imagination. The process of making imprints leads to an understanding the parameters that arrange a building, its construction, and its dialogue with the ground. The memories and stories of my thesis project manifest themselves in apartment housing. The apartment complex proposes a shared experience, which is derived from the rep-resentation of the domestic home depicted in fragments by story habitation. As past events leave impressions on the mind, these memories in turn imprint themselves in to the ar-chitecture of the apartment housing.
