MGM Dizzee World

Its an amusement park in CHENNAI, Tamil Nadu. It is

located in East Costal Road(ECR). The park has log flume,

giant wheel, spider spin, roller coaster, dashing cars, a

water world and it also hosts special shows.

It is owned by MGM Group of Companies

The park also hosts special features such as snow valley

introduced during the early 2000s; an artificial snow showers

with snow-capped mountain and a snow man

All amusement parks agree there is an element of risk

involved in their business that includes adventure rides. So,

CCTV cameras are a must. "Running a theme park is a large

operation, especially during peak season and weekends

when we have 500 to 600 people coming in," says MGM

Dizzee World director.

No regulatory mechanism

The culture of going to theme parks may be well-

entrenched and more than a decade old in the city, but there

is still no licensing or regulatory authority to evaluate

safety in these parks. Until four years ago, there were no

safety guidelines or standards for parks to follow in

building safe rides.

The Bureau of Indian Standards introduced guidelines for

structural safety in 2004, but there is still no enforcing

agency to ensure that they are in place.

While parks have to obtain structural stability certificates

on an annual basis from the Public Works Department, this

is a common practice for most buildings and inspections are

not carried out specifically to assess the safety of rides

Still the basic certification is not strictly observed.
