IMPORTANT “STEPS”: Almost 50 years ago,
the beautiful Carnegie Library in Great Falls
was torn down to make way for the library
we have today.
Historic interior stone steps from that
Library, stored with the City for 48 years, are
being honored again in a new way - as
Learning Center and Orchard Benches in the
2.2 acre Westside Orchard Garden at 400
16th St. SW in Great Falls, MT.
At the Westside Orchard Garden, we grow
fresh produce for:
Head Start Program Boys & Girls Club Meals on Wheels Community Rec Center
The Garden is also a “growing place” for
kids and adults to learn about gardening,
healthy eating, composting, worms, and
playing in the dirt! The summer of 2014
kids grew in the Garden 5 days a week.
The steps from the Carnegie Library are
being “repurposed” as benches in the
Garden, raising funds to help support
expanded growing for these groups.
