The ministry of shipping India passed an order on 21st May 2018 relaxing the cabotage

rule thus allowing the foreign flag ships to move transshipment laden containers and

empty containers within India ports. This was a much needed change as the merchant

shipping act enacted in 1958 at a time when container cargo was in a nascent stage and the

section 407 not permitting the foreign flag ships to transship loaded and empty containers

within a port to another port in India.

Today the advancement in shipping and container handling technology is leading to the

deployment of ever increasing mother vessels that are carrying containers in excess of

18,000 TEU’s and calling only main ports. The containers from smaller ports are shipped

via feeder vessels to load on to mother vessels. Vallarpadam Kochi was declared as the

first transshipment port in India hardly found any success due to the restriction on

cabotage law. The upcoming ports like Vizhinjam and Colachel would have had the same

fate .Many of our neighboring countries had built ports that can accommodate mother

ships targeting Indian freight .33% of Indian container cargo was getting transshipped at

foreign ports leading to traffic growth at foreign ports, high costs to Indian shippers and

buyers , loss of revenue for Indian government. With this new notification allowing the

sea carriers to carry import and export goods on foreign vessels to and fro will surely be a

boost to the trade as the freight rates should come down with better transit times.

Anchorage , Kochi With the growth in air cargo traffic across the country, Anchorage Kochi has played well.

In the first half 2018 our lifting ex Kochi to various destination touched 288 tons in

comparison of 127 tons entire last year. Our volume is a mix perishable and general cargo,

garments/ayurvedic products/printed matter are the majors for us. Volume has dipped in

June due to the ban imposed by middle eastern countries for the fresh produce from

Kerala, in fear of Nipah outbreak..

“BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE”

Are we earning to pay builders and interior designers, caterers and decorators?

Whom do we want to impress with our highly inflated house properties & fat weddings?

Do you remember for more than two days what you ate at someone's marriage?

Why are we working like dogs in our prime years of life?

How many generations do we want to feed?

Most of us have two kids. Many have a single kid.

How much is the "need" and how much do we actually "want"??

Think about it.

Would our next generation be incapable to earn, that we save so much for them!?!

Can’t we spare one and a half days a week for friends, family and self??

Do you spend even 5% of your monthly income for your self enjoyment?

Usually...no!

Why can't we enjoy simultaneously while we earn?

Spare time to enjoy before you have slipped discs and cholesterol blocks in your heart!!!

We don't own properties, we just have temporary name on documents.

GOD laughs sarcastically, when someone says,

"I am the owner of this land"!!

Do not judge a person only by the length of his car.

Many of our science and maths teachers were great personalities riding on scooters!!

It is not bad to be rich, but it is very unfair, to be only rich.

Let's get a LIFE, before life gets us, instead....

One day, all of us will get separated from each other; we will miss our conversations of

everything & nothing; the dreams that we had.

Days will pass by, months, years, until this contact becomes rare... One day our children

will see our pictures and ask 'Who are these people?' And we will smile with invisible

tears because a heart is touched with a strong word and you will say: ' IT WAS THEM

THAT I HAD THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE WITH ‘

Annual Budget Meet for the year 2018 -19 held @ Crowne Plaza ,

Kochi

Mr. Ajai Joseph, Chairman & CEO presided over the meeting by felicitating the best

performers of the last fiscal year. As part of recognizing the achievements of top

performing branches , he announced that CSL Kolkata Branch has qualified to be the

“Top Performer “ for the year 2017-’18. CSL Chennai bagged the first runner up title .

A Dish of Ice Cream

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a coffee shop and sat at

the counter. The waitress placed a glass of water in front of him and asked what he would like.

‚How much is an ice cream sundae?‛ The Boy asked .

‚50 cents,‛ replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled a handful of change out of his pocket and studied his small collection of coins.

‚How much is a dish of plain ice cream?‛ he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table and

the waitress grew a bit impatient with him.

‚35 cents,‛ she said in an abrupt and frustrating tone.

The little boy counted his coins again and said ‚1’ll have the plain ice cream‛

The waitress brought the ice cream, placed the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the

ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.

When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she

saw.

There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were 15 cents – her tip .

Moral of the Story – ‚NO MATTER WHAT THE SITUATION IS , ALWAYS TREAT OTHERS AS

YOU WANT TO BE TREATED ‚

India’s 1st Floating LNG Terminal Inaugurated

India’s first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal was inaugurated on May1st by the country’s

gas company H – Energy, a unit of Hiranandani Group.

ENI’s floating storage re-gasification unit (FSRU) GDF SUEZ Cape Ann was hired for the job in 2017.

The 145,000 cbm FSRU, which was hired for a minimum period of 5 years , arrived at the LNG re-

gasification project at Jaigarh port in Maharashtra on the west coast of India , on April 30.

The vessel is equipped with the re-gasification capacity to operate the project at around 4 million tons

per annum.

H-Energy said the FSRU sets a new era in Indian LNG Industry.

‚Growth has to percolate to the common man and has to contribute to the progress of the

nation,‛Niranjan Hiranandani , Chairman of the Hiranandani group said at the launching ceremony.

The Terminal was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis.

In addition to providing the country with gas, a technical modification of the vessel is planned , aimed

at enabling bunkering vessels to load LNG.

In this way, the vessels in Maharashtra ports will be able to become compliant with the IMO’s Sulphur

Regulations set to enter into force in 2020.

H energy has an option to extend the charter agreement beyond the initial term.
