You can judge what he considered the most important by the words for his tombstone: «Here was buried Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of American Independence, of the Statue of Virginia for Religious Freedom, and Father of University of Virginia»
Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) was born in a log cabin and attended only one year of school. He taught himself everything he knew. So, by his work he paved his way to the presidency. Lincoln is known for fighting against slavery.
Theodore Roosevelt did a lot of good for his country. The interests of working people were close to his heart and he is remembered for his fight against financial monopolies and trusts to help economic growth. But the most importantly that he placed unique natural resources under government protection to preserve them for the future.
Mount Rushmore national Memorial in South Dakota represents the first 150 years of the history of the USA and is 18-metre sculptures of the heads of former US presidents (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt ).The entire memorial covers 5.17 km and is 1.745 metres above the sea.
