For over fiftyyears Falkirk and District Arts and Civic Councilhas supported, promoted and campaigned forthe Arts and an enhanced civic amenity for theFalkirk District. Member organisations ofFDACC take this opportunity every year toshowcase their work in a fortnight of non-stopmusic, performance, exhibitions and events. Wehope you enjoy it!
The Falkirk Trysts – a potted history. You maywonder why the Festival is called the “Tryst”,this refers to the famously important livestockmarkets which at their height, in the 18thcentury, saw cattle, sheep and horses beingbrought from all corners of Scotland to Falkirkto find buyers from Scotland and England.www.fdacc.org.uk/

March along, wave a flag, holler andcheer like an overexcited American tourist and welcomethe stars of our annual celebration of community artsgroups and organisations as they march the length of theHigh Street and West Bridge Street to Falkirk Town Hall.

The splendid choral evening begins with the Petite MesseSolennelle de Sainte Cécile, by Gounod. The second piecewill be the ever-popular and very moving The Armed Man:A Mass For Peace by Karl Jenkins. The chorus will be joinedby The Scottish Concert Orchestra, and solos will beperformed by Rhona McKail, Soprano, Raoni Hübner, Tenor,and Nicholas Morris, Bass. Once again, Robert Taitconducts, as he has for forty years..

Showcasing their new playlist, the Bo’ness based band willperform a variety of music including Scottish TraditionalMusic, Old Time Favourites and Hymns. This communitymarching band, boasting fifty members aged 4 – 70 years,playing drums, cymbals and triangles as well as accordions,will spend the summer season travelling the length andbreadth of the country taking part in various events such asGala Day Processions, Fair Days and Riding of the Marchesevents. For the Annual Concert some of the members of theband will be displaying their soloist talents playing wellknown singalong songs and waltzes, something new for2013 to get everyones toes tapping.

It is 1970 and on the stage of the Weismann Theatre, New York, Dimitri Weismann has gathered together the surviving players of his lavish pre-war Follies, from the silver screen goddess Carlotta Campion to the mostnondescript chorus line members, for a first and lastreunion before the theatre is demolished to make way for a parking lot. As the stars reminisce, they recreate their old acts, old ghosts are laid to rest and old flamesrekindled.
Including well-loved numbers like Losing My Mind and Broadway Baby this is a great musical evening, hitting all the right nostalgic notes.
