The State Flower is the Native Violet.

The State name is Illinois.
Illinois History
• In Early 1673 two French explorers Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet were the first Europeans in the area.
• In 1699 French settlers established the first settlement of the area, which is near present day East St. Louis.
• Illinois was the 21st state to enter the union on December 3rd, 1818.
Government • The current Governor of
Illinois is Pat Quinn.
• The State motto is“State, Sovereignty, National
Union.”
Zones and Regions• Illinois is apart of the
Central Time Zone. • Illinois belong to the Midwest Region based upon the Census Bureau.
