  • About The Chorus

The South Windsor Community Chorus members share a desire to

provide entertainment, musical growth and education, personal

challenge, creativity, and community service. The Chorus welcomes

voices (with or without musical background) from South Windsor and

    the surrounding towns.

This organization originally began in 1971 as “Friends of Music.”

Bobbie Reeves (Director) and Karen Krinjak (Accompanist) volunteered

their services to help raise money for band uniforms for the South

Windsor High School. Today, membership ranges from 40 to 50 singers

    from towns throughout the region.

The Chorus performs two major concerts a season, winter and spring, as

well as shorter programs throughout the community. Our repertoire

consists of light classical, popular show tunes, and traditional numbers.

The group is sponsored in part by the Recreation Department of the

Town of South Windsor, through the generosity of companies and

organizations in the community, as well as by members of the chorus

    themselves.

The Chorus awards its’ “Friends of Music” scholarship each year, to a

graduating Senior of South Windsor High School, pursuing a career in

    music.

For more information on how you can join us on our musical

adventures, please call Lehman A. Mann Sr at 875-2589.

  • From The Director …

Welcome to our celebration of some of Broadway’s finest music. For several

years now, I have held season tickets with three of my closest friends to the

Bushnell Musical Series. I was inspired to put together this program by the

Bushnell showing of Pippin this past winter. If you ever get a chance to see the

Pippin revival – do so! You’ll love it. Another wonderful revival that will be

showing in Harford (next year) is “Newsies.” Any musical that can get my

middle school son singing along, has to have some kind of value! We end our

program with ABBA’s rocking melodies featured in the musical Mamma Mia.

This music reminds me of one of my favorite times at the Bushnell; jumping up

and dancing to the encore from Mamma Mia. So many memories of great shows

and music that you just can’t stop singing. Tonight we transport you to the

wonderful world of Musicals. May you leave with a bounce in your step and joy

    in your heart.

    From The President …

"Everybody can sing , Everybody used to sing and Everyone should sing."

Music throughout all of human history was about people communicating and

sharing together. (Music is the Universal Language). The gift the South

Windsor Community Chorus provides in vocal music is more powerful than

any other artistic form because when they are in the same room with people like

you , the Audience. They with their Director create something beautiful and

    unbelievably compelling, “Magical Music”
