Dr. Norige's Interview on Channel 3 What It's Like To Be On Eyewitness News
It was a privilege to join Dr. Robert "Bob" Schreibman, one of the co-founders of the CT MOM free dental clinic.
When I arrived at WFSB that Saturday morning it was still dark and overcast. Soon Dr. Schreibman arrived and we were admitted to the reception area of the WFSB studios. It seemed like an eternity until our escort/producer whisked us to the guest preparation area where we were briefed and fitted with our microphones (no hair or make up people needed!). Then and there they performed a "mic check" to make sure we could be heard when the lights went on.
Next we entered the pre-studio area (news assignment desk or green room, I'm not sure which) with monitors, clocks and other assorted gadgets blinking and beeping their information.

"Thank you for the work that you do. That's Incredible."
-WFSB's Irene O'Connor regarding the over 18,000
people treated at CTMOM
through 2016.
My heart started racing. Only seconds from entering the world of live TV.
It was time. On to the set. It is amazing how many very bright lights are on you when on the set. The large logo of Channel 3 was glowing on the back wall. Our Host was Irene O'Connor, and she was ready for us and went right into introductions. Then we were cued that we were live! She introduced us and announced the reason for our guest appearance. Dr Bob took the lead and I filled in details. The segment was over four minutes long, but seemed like only 30 seconds. We presented Irene with a CT MOM tee shirt and cap. And the interview was over. We exited just as rapidly as we had entered, heading back into life on the other side of the bright lights... I hope our message about the April 2017 CT MOM event found some viewers who truly need some help.

WHAT IS CT MISSION OF MERCY? The Connecticut Mission of Mercy (CT MOM) is a two day clinic that provides free dental care to the underserved and uninsured in Connecticut. Dr. Norige has volunteered each year since it began in 2008, and most of his team has volunteered multiple times as well. The clinic can provide hygiene cleanings, fillings, extractions, and even root canal therapy if needed. Over 18,000 people have been treated through 2016.
"The Interview was over four minutes long, but it seemed like only 30 seconds."
