The 2017 Snowflake 5K takes place on December 28, 2017. NCAC’s Snowflake 5K, organized by our VP Steve Borton, doesn’t just make hundreds of people feel good with a brisk midwinter run to the Hook and back (with T shirts, official timing, bagels, hot cocoa and a party atmosphere). It’s also a way for our corps to lend a hand to local organizations that help people in need every day. Proceeds from last year’s run on December 31 are being shared with Soup Angels, Grace’s Kitchen, and the Helen Hayes Hospital’s Adapted Sports and Recreation Program. From sailing to cycling and golf to gardening, the HHH Adapted Sports & Recreation Program is a four-season initiative serving individuals with a range of abilities, interests and skills. The Program is open to individuals with all types of disabilities, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, cardiac conditions, orthopedic and neurological disorders. VP Borton was especially pleased to be able to make this donation on behalf of NCAC: “They were very, very appreciative because their funding, for this valuable program, has been slashed back. They not only train people to compete in adaptive sports, but also work with people to give the a supportive push back into full recovery.” For more information contact Matthew Castelluccio, Adapted Sports Coordinator at 845-786-4950 / [email protected]
