The Root Chakra (Red) Also called the Base chakra, it helps to keep you grounded and is the energy centre that holds your identity in place, in this life and in your ancestral lineage. An unbalanced Root chakra can lead to feelings of loss, isolation, lack of identity, spates of “bad luck” and repeated familial patterns that are often to do with unfinished ancestral karma, fatigue, low iron levels, clumsiness, breaking bones easily, and regular acute or chronic physical complaints. The Sacral Chakra (Orange) Connects you with your maternal family line currently and ancestrally, and oversees births and deaths. This is often seen as the relationship chakra and governs how you put yourself in society and relate to community; it is the seat of creativity, pleasure, and sexual expression. An unbalanced sacral chakra can lead to addictions for the sake of comfort and safety, promiscuity or frugality, an imbalance in how you give and receive; problems with joints, tissues and ligaments, the gut, intestines, digestion and the kidneys. Hormonal issues can manifest here. We often process fear through the Sacral chakra and it is the seat of courage. The Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow) This chakra is the seat of our power and governs how we give our power away to others - victim, rescuer, persecutor triangle. When empowered and healthy, it is the I AM centre. Feeding the diaphragm, it is the support for our expression through the throat chakra - singer and actors often have imbalanced solar plexus chakras. When this chakra is imbalanced, we can feel rage and anger; bitter; victimised; imprisoned; weak; we can be abused or be the abuser. It often feeds the ego when not in alignment. Physically, we might have liver or adrenal problems, skin issues or any issue that manifests visibly on the face. The Heart Chakra (Green) This chakra is the central point for all the other chakras and it will feed the other chakras based on what you feed the heart. It is a gateway chakra that connects you to Source and also to the other facets of Source (i.e. other people) that you meet during your incarnation. This is the seat of love and unconditional love, meaning love with no fear. When imbalanced, we can feel fearful, selfish, miserly, jealous, and a lack of empathy. When this chakra is completely damaged, we can commit violence and murder - psychopaths and sociopaths have very blocked heart chakras. Physically, an imbalance here could lead to heart problems, nerve problems, and sensory problems. The bottom three chakras feed the ego self. The Throat Chakra (Aquamarine) This is the seat of our expression. A healthy throat chakra leads to a balanced outpouring of creativity and speech, good communication skills, great mediation, and a general sense of freedom in life. An imbalanced chakra can lead to feelings of entrapment, an inability to speak, muteness, diseases of the throat, depression, and rashes can sometimes be attributed to blocked expression. This chakra is your voice, and forms one of the bridges between this world and the Otherworld. The Brow Chakra (Indigo) Also called the Third Eye chakra, your clairvoyance is seated here, as well as the ability to see your physical reality - so this chakra is everything to do with perceptions and is linked to how your beliefs are formed throughout your life. If imbalanced, it can lead to mental illnesses, schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, dysfunction of the pituitary gland, and more generally, a refusal to “let go” of things. If healthy, you can retain a stable grasp of linear reality as you travel astrally and between dimensions. This is the chakra that forms both reality and illusion. Mediums, psychics, and visionaries utilise this energy centre - artists, too. The Crown Chakra (Violet or White) This is the chakra that begins, supports, and feeds your connection to Source. This is the seat of your imagination, thoughts, and dreams. If you daydream, meditate, or do journey work, this chakra is stimulated and utilised first before the third eye. This chakra gives you direct communication with your consciousness and your higher self. Along with the third eye, it is one of the gateway chakras that connects you to the cosmos. This chakra plays a big part in releasing your soul from your physical body when you die. Similar to heart chakra misalignments, an imbalanced crown chakra can lead to confusion, fear, lack of empathy, disassociation, blocked intuition and even blocked physical instincts as the crown cannot feed your other chakras as well as it should.
