    Technology Event- “The Sanskaar Techfest 5.O”. The Sanskaar Techfest 5.O is a 2-day event to be th th

    held on 26 & 27 April 2019, at the school campus. The overwhelming response from the eminent

    participant schools in the past four years has inspired us to take the Techfest to next level this year in

    terms of its content, logistics and magnitude. Widening the scope further Sanskaar Techfest 5.0,

    brings ample opportunities or students and teachers to participate and compete in several on-site

    and online events.

    The event will give opportunity to students and teachers to learn, compete and gain exposure with a

    tinge of enjoyment. This year 9 on-site and 5 online events, Keynote on Artificial Intelligence and

    AR/VR, Workshops and competitions for Teacher Escorts are planned with a dream to make it a

    platform for a grand Technological Extravaganza.

    We are excited to welcome all the Tech-savvy students and teachers in the city and hope to make it

    an unforgettable experience for each one of them.

  • General Instructions

    1. The Sanskaar Techfest 5.0 offers an opportunity to participate in 9 on-site and 5 online

    events.2. A participant may participate in both online and on-site event.3. All the participants of online and on-site events will receive participation certificates.

    Instructions for online eventsth4. The Schools are required to register online - on or before 10 April, 2019.

    5. The entries as per specifications in the individual event rule sheet need to be sent online at the themail id by 20 April, 2019 by 4 pm. [email protected]

    rd6. The results for all online events will be declared on 23 April, 2019 on our event website Techfest.sanskaarvalley.org.

    7. A participant may participate in more than one event.th8. Only the winners of online events will be invited to attend the award ceremony on 27 April,

    2019.9. The certificates of participation for all online event participants will be handed over to the

    thteacher escorts on 27 April, 2019.

    Instructions for on-site eventsth th10. Event date: Day-1: 26 April 2019, Friday and Day-2 :27 April 2019, Saturday.

    th11. The Schools are required to register online - on or before 10 April, 2019.12. Schools are expected to arrive at the host school premises latest by 8:00 am.

    th13. Prize distribution will take place on 27 April 2019 between 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm, the schools can depart thereafter.

    14. Students must be accompanied by a teacher escort.th th 15. The event is open for students of classes 6 to 12 only.

    16. The participants CANNOT participate in more than one event on a specific day, as these events are running concurrently.

    17. A panel of judges will assess the performance of the participants and their decision will be final and binding to all.

    18. There is no registration / participation fee for any event, although there can be a limited number of students who can participate in each event. So, registration will be confirmed on a first come, first serve basis.

    19. For some events, the participants may be asked to bring their own devices.20. Details of each event are given in the Event Brochure.21. The schools must ensure that the copyright free content is used for all the events (wherever

    students are bringing the pre-prepared material) or else references should be cited. The Sanskaar Valley School shall not be responsible for any misuse of copyright/trademarks or any such issue.

    THEME: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

    Instructions:

    1. The participants must design a creative multiplayer educational computer game based on the given theme. They may choose any Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) as theme for their game which they will be required to present in front of the judges on the day of the event. The time limit of the game presentation is maximum 10 minutes.Refer to to know more about https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/SDGs.

    2. Teams are supposed to prepare and submit the game description document in hard copy to the judges.

    3. The document must contain the following details:a) What does my game teach or which Sustainable Development Goal my game addresses?

    (Explain why this game is important.) For e.g. Save water is one of the 17 Sustainable development goals and a game that motivates user to save water can be made.

    b) What will my game do? (Define the goal of the game. What are the key features of the game?)

    c) Who is the end user / who will find my game helpful? (Identify a specific person or group of persons who will use this game.)

    d) What are the different levels and characters of my game? (Define how many levels this game will have, the background of each level and the characters in each level.)

    e) How does the player's score increase/decrease and how does the player win/loose in the game? (When does the player get points and when does the player loose points in this game?)

    f) User manual – which includes a description of the functionality of the game, keyboard shortcuts used in the game and other instructions to help users.

    Instructions:1. Participants in each group need to think of an innovative Startup idea to be showcased during

    the competition. The idea presented should solve any problem of the society/community/city of your country.

    2. Teams need to make a presentation to explain their Startup idea, which could be a technology/tool/service/product/concept etc. Participants can strengthen the presentation of their startup by making a presentation/website/app/promo video/cost benefit analysis document/feasibility study document/brochure/visiting cards/Posters/Banners of team.

    3. Teams will be required to present their idea to the judges through a presentable which may have hyperlinks to other resources. Team members may designate roles to themselves as Team Leader, Marketing Manager, Web Manager, Project Leader, Strategy and Branding Manager etc.

    4. The time allotted for the presentation is maximum 10 minutes.5. All the necessary hardware/software/other accessories for this event need to be brought by

    the participating school. The organizers will only provide electricity connection and a Projector for the presentation of the Game.

    6. During the presentation, the teams may be questioned by the Jury members.

    Event Type : Team Event

    Eligibility : For students of Classes 6 to 8

    Event Duration : Two Hours

    Software to be used : Need for Speed (Most Wanted 2005)

    Venue : Anant Computer Lab 4

    Instructions:

    1. They will play against other school teams. 2. The bracket will be made on the day of competition.

    3. Race mode for the semi-final rounds will be decided by the Organizing Committee and will be informed before the tournament. 4. Transmission is automatic for all races until the semi finals. All finalists MUST race on manual transmission .

    5. Peripherals other than keyboard, mouse and earphones/headphones are not allowed. However, earphones are recommended for participants as school will not provide them. (speakers are NOT allowed)

    6. For all races, the team of the first participant to cross the finish line will be considered as winner. 7. All cars will be unlocked and can be used with any modifications in game (However car classes will be decided upon the day of tournament) 8. Each round will be investigated by organizing committee: whether one player is trying to block another player or not & if it happens at that time, the player will be disqualified.

    9. Any issues regarding controls and game mode will not be entertained during the event. The participant is expected to check the controls before the race begins. * The above rules can be changed or removed without any prior notice to the participants and the judge's verdict will be binding.

    10. Usage of trainer software if found will result in immediate Disqualification. Macros are NOT allowed.

    Venue : Shikhar Hall 2 & 3

    Instructions:

    1. The tournament will be in a knockout format.2. All the matches will be played on the "Sony PlayStation 4" console.3. Two teams will play together.4. Half length: 4 minutes for normal matches and 5 minutes in final.5. If the match ends in a draw, then there will be penalties.6. If someone tries to change the game settings, then his/her team will be disqualified.7. Camera: Default8. Radar: Default9. Time/Score Display: On10. Music Volume: 011. Commentary Volume: 012. FIFA Trainer: Off13. Custom tactics are allowed14. Custom formations are allowed.15. Goalkeeper switching is allowed.16. Participants must carry their own controllers and headsets.17. The Player can pause the game to change strategy and players, only when the game is

    stopped (i.e. offside, touchline, fouls etc.). 18. Pauses can be made if the player wants to restrategize it in possession of the ball.19. Exceptionally players can pause the game each time one of his players is sent off or is

    injured to change him and his strategy.20. In case of any conflict, the decision of a Host is final and binding. The rest of the game

    settings to remain default.

    *Organizers may change the rules (if required). However, the updated rules will be available on the event website at least 2 days before the event.

  • ACCESS DENIED

    Event Type : Individual

    Eligibility : Students of classes 9 to 12

    Event Duration : Two Hours

    Venue : Anant Computer Lab 2

    Background: Your PC has been hacked and the hacker has changed the admin account password on your Windows 10 PC. He has also disassembled the PC and removed/replaced a working component with a defective component so that you cannot access your files in time. You need some important files from your admin account, so you must gain access to admin account. Instructions:

    1. Students in each group can bring any equipment of their choice ex: pen drives, hard drives, etc.

    2. Students can bring any software on their pen drive.3. The participants will have to assemble the PCs and identify the missing/defective component

    and get it replaced. After this the real challenge begins.4. The students will be logged into the guest account of Windows 10, from where they will

    execute the following tasks:

    a. The first task of the student is to decode an encoded file (type of encoding will not be told till the day of event)

    b. The second task of the student is to copy a word file named “Access denied” present on the desktop of admin account to the guest account. The file will be password protected and the password will be hidden in the encoded file. The file will contain a link which will be used in the next task and a password which will be used in the fourth task.

    c. On clicking the link, it will open a YouTube video, but YouTube will be blocked. The third task of the student is to unblock YouTube and download the video to the guest account. YouTube and other sites will be banned by Open DNS and DansGuardian. (It is necessary for the participant to show the judge the unblocked YouTube and the download the file.)

    d. The fourth and final task of the student is to change the admin account password to the

    password obtained in task 2.

  • 5. The students will be given two hours to complete the five tasks.6. The tasks can be completed in any order. Exception obviously being the first one.7. After every task completion, the participant will call the judge to note the time.8. The above-mentioned rules may be changed by the organizers; the changes will be informed

    to the participants on the day of the competition.9. There will be a bonus task for the students that will give them a time bonus.10. The bonus task will be given when the event starts.11. Each task will have a hint to solve the bonus task.

    If a participant is unable to perform a task they may ask the organizers to bypass that specific task for them, this would result in a time penalty of:

    sta. 15 minutes for 1 bypassndb. 25 minutes for 2 bypassrdc. 35 minutes for 3 bypass

    Judgement Criteria :

    ü�Time will be the criteria for judgement of this event.ü�Ranks will be decided based on the time taken to complete the four tasks. The fastest

    contestant will come first.ü�If no competitors are able to complete all the 4 tasks the winner will be decided by taking

    into account, the maximum number of tasks completed by the students and the time taken to do so.

    * Note: Organizers may change a few rules (if required while cross-checking the logistics). But the latest rule will be available on the event website at least two days before the event.

    Instructions:

    Teams will be given two tasks for this event.

    Task 1: Paper Pen Round (Time: 30 mins)

    Teams will be given a question paper which may have the following type of assignments:

    1. To find the output of the given code snippets (written in Algorithm/pseudocodes) 2. To rewrite the given algorithm for a specified problem such that the modified algorithm is

    more effective and is of less complexity.3. Find and debug the error in the given pseudocodes or flowcharts.

    Task 2: Code Round (Time: 1 hour)1. Teams will be required to make 2 programs in Java. 2. Teams need to test and debug their programs before submission. The programs should run

    for sample input/output (given in the assignment sheet) and also for the unknown outputs.

    Judgement Criteria :

    ü�Both the tasks will have a mark component against each assignment.ü�Students submission for both the tasks will be evaluated, and marks will be allotted. ü�The merit list will be prepared on the basis of cumulative score of task1 and task2. ü�Top scorers will be declared as winners.

    Instructions:

    1) There will be two rounds in this competition. 2) Preliminary Round: In this round selection of the participants will be through real time quizzing software. 3) Top five teams will qualify for the final round based on their performance in the preliminary round. The quiz master will announce the top five team names and invite them on stage to participate in the final round. 4) The Final round will comprise of direct questions, multiple choice questions, audio visual, connect and rapid – fire rounds. 5) The scoring system & rules of the round will be explained by the Quizmaster before each round. 6) Following is the list of topics which participants may refer; however, it is not exhaustive, other necessary references may also undertake.

    Computer Fundamentals (History, Types, Generations, basic architecture), Computer and Mobile Operating Systems, Features and identification of digital gadgets, Computer Hardware, software and memory, Latest in IT, Famous Digital World personalities, Computer Games, Computer Science terminology and acronyms. Common Icons, Networking, Cyber ethics acts and laws, mobile based software applications, Plagiarism- laws, consequences, paraphrasing, hacking, phishing, copyrights, patent etc. All about popular IT Companies (like CEOs, Headquarters, Products, Logos, new projects etc.).

    Judgement Criteria : The decision of the quizmaster shall be final and binding.

  • Treasure Hunt

    Event Type : Team Event

    Number of Teams per School : 1

    Number of Participants per Team : 4

    Eligibility : Students of Classes 6 to 12

    Event Duration : One Hour 30 mins

    Venue : Entire School Campus

    Instructions:

    1. Prelims will be conducted (*Based on the number of teams registered for the event).

    2. The Treasure Hunt consists of 4-5 clues, each one leading to the next clue. Teams will be given a map to find the treasure. At each location mentioned in the map, there will be a QR Code which needs to be scanned to retrieve the clue.

    3.The clues are to be found in an order. A team cannot skip a clue. Skipping a clue leads to disqualification of the team.

    4.Do not search for clues in off-limit areas.

    5.If a team found other team's clue by any chance, never tamper it. A violation of this rule could cause disqualification.

    6.Each team must bring one Internet enabled Android phone.

    7.An Android app will be provided by the organizers which will help the teams to scan the QR-Code and open the clue attached to it.

    8.The team that will find the treasure first will be the winner. In case no team is able to search the treasure in the assigned duration (2 hours), the winners will be decided based on the number of clues, the teams have cracked.

    9.The clues to find the treasure will be related to the IT terminology therefore it is recommended that participants must have knowledge of the subject.

    10. In case participants move any object to search the clue, kindly replace it back.

    11.All the clues of the teams are different and are located at various places, but the final destination i.e. the treasure is same. The team which finds the treasure wins first.*Organizers may change the rules (if required). However, the updated rules will be available on the event website at least 2 days before the event or will be explained to participants before the beginning of the event.

    Eligibility : Students of Classes 6 to 12

    Software to be used : Any suitable Movie Making Software

    Instructions:

    1. This is a movie making competition. Teams are required to prepare a short film (of maximum 5 minutes) on the Theme- “Life/Journey of a skilled labour”. (e.g. plumber, welder, electrician, carpenter, vegetable seller, fisherman etc)

    2. The participants can use live pictures, interviews, videos, audio and copyright free content to create the movie. The movie must depict the following aspects:

    · Best practices/ initiatives taken by BMC, local govt., various public and private organizations, NGOs etc. for making Bhopal a clean city;

    · What has worked and what has not worked? · Areas of improvement/ new Initiatives, which can be taken.· How as students you can contribute to the drive?

    3. Students may use any hardware or software to produce the movie, but the specifications of the same needs to be given on the last frame of the movie.

    4. The movie must contain the Event name, Team No, Name of the Participants, class, section and school name on the first frame.

    5. Movies needs to be saved in mp4 or AVI format with good resolution in HD Quality.6. Schools needs to upload the mp4 files to One Drive/Google Drive, or YouTube and the

    thlink are required to be mailed at [email protected] on or before 20 April 2019.

    7. Top 3 teams will be invited to receive the awards and certificates during the prize thdistribution ceremony on 27 April 2019.

    Instructions:

    1) Participants must make a storyline on the topic given below using online software Sway.

    (depiction of story may be done using 2d/3d character designed in 3D Paint and its plot in

    Sway)

    Topic: If I had a personal ROBOT…

    2) The Sway must be saved as Schoolname_Team1/Team2

    for example: TheSanskaarValleySchool_Team1

    3) The Sway must contain the Names of the Participants, Classes, School Name and Event

    Name as First Slide.

    Event Type : Individual Event

    Software to be used : Any supporting software

    Instructions:

    1.Participants need to submit a 1-minute video content created using concept of Mixed Reality- they make take capture some real action video and add some virtual effects to it. The theme of video should be Fun with Mixed Reality.

    2.The video needs to be submitted in HD with high resolution in mp4 or avi format.3.Participants may feature themselves or use self-created resources copyright free images,

    video, audio etc. in the video to make it self-explanatory.

    4.Entries that are submitted in connection with the Competition will only be eligible if such Entries: a. Are in English, including all scripts and voice-overs.b. Do not contain content that is unlawful (including any infringement or potential

    infringement of Intellectual Property Rights), hateful or obscene, in the Competition organizer's sole discretion, and

    c. Do not include any other identifiable individual other than the individual participant unless prior express consent is obtained from such individual or such images are in the public domain.

    5.The video must depict the Name of the Participants, Classes, School Name and Event Name, subject and topic in the beginning.

    Instructions :

    1. The Participant need to create a OneNote notebook on any one of the Sustainable

    Development Goal (SDGs) that they would like to address. Students may explore the

    following link to know about SDGs.

    2. They need to create a multi-section notebook with multi-pages to have the following

    information about the topic:

    a. Goal No-____ Description__________

    b. What will be your call to address this goal? What initiatives you would like to take to

    act for the cause.

    c. Some of the best initiatives already taken to address the cause

    d. Related Video resources

    e. Worksheets and other useful links

    f. Quizzes

    For information about SDG

    3. The OneNote must be saved by Schoolname_Team1/Team2_SDG Goal No.

    For example, TheSanskaarValleySchool_Team1_SDG Goal No.4 Quality

    Education

    4. The OneNote must contain the Name of the Participant, class, section and school name on

    the first section of the notebook.

    5. After completing the OneNote notebook, students can create a shared link and send it to the themail id: [email protected] on or before 20 April 2019.

    6. Top 3 teams will be invited to receive the awards and certificates during the prize distribution thceremony on 27 April 2019.

    Eligibility : Category 1- For students of Classes 9 to 12

    : Category 2- For Educators

    Software to be used : Any Multimedia Presentation/Movie/video

    Instructions:1. This competition is open for educators and students. However, the judgement will be done

    separately in two categories- a. Teachers b. Students2. The participants should create a short (of maximum three minutes) video explaining a

    challenging/abstract concept in any subject in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way. 3. The video needs to be submitted in HD with high resolution in mp4 or avi format.4. Participants may feature themselves or use self-created resources charts/models/mind-

    maps or copyright free images etc. in the video to make it self-explanatory.5. Entries that are submitted in connection with the Competition will only be eligible if such

    Entries (i) are in English, including all scripts and voice-overs, (ii) do not contain content that is unlawful (including any infringement or potential infringement of Intellectual Property Rights), hateful or obscene, in the Competition organizer's sole discretion, and (iii) do not include any other identifiable individual other than the individual participant unless prior express consent is obtained from such individual or such images are in the public domain.

    6. The video must depict the Category: Educator/Student, Name of the Participants, Classes, School Name and Event Name, subject and topic in the beginning.

    7. Teams can upload the video on Google drive or One Drive and schools can share the link thwith the organizers at the email id on or before 20 April [email protected]

    8. Top 3 teams from each category will be invited to receive the awards and certificate during ththe prize distribution ceremony on 27 April 2019.
