FROM FR. RAY… Happy Easter! What a great day for me to express my sincere and deepest gratitude for all of the love, support, prayers and encouragement that you have given to me as your pastor. I am particularly grateful to all of you who have journeyed with me during the Season of Lent. To see many of you at daily Mass and many of you at the Tuesday evenings Soup & Sandwich Workshops has tru-ly touched my heart. To spend three evenings with you as Bishop LaValley led us all on a remarkable journey of a Lenten Mission was outstanding. And to worship with you during the three holiest days of the year which are deeply rooted in the traditions of our Catholic faith has strengthened my conviction of how great God’s love is. The greatest joy of my life is being a priest and I truly thank God for sending me to this faithfilled community of St. Augustine/St. Mary. Your Alleluia is constantly expressed in so many ways!!! I wish to extend a very special welcome to all visitors, especially former parishioners, out of town relatives and family members, as well as all new parishioners who may be worshipping with us for the first time. If you have been seeking a Parish community in which to learn, to pray, to join in social activity, and to be of service to othersour doors and hearts are open. We are thankful that God has sent you to us this Easter, and we welcome you to our Parish Family of Faith. I will be leaving after the Easter Masses and heading out to the Buffalo area to help prepare and organize a pilgrimage that will be taking place in October sponsored by the D.O.V.S. (Diocese of Ogdensburg Vocation Soci-ety). Information about this two night pilgrimage with Bishop LaValley will be available once everything is ar-ranged. I will be returning Friday evening. Please note there is no daily Mass scheduled for Monday and Tues-day of this week. Father Lamica will be celebrating the Wednesday and Thursday Masses. Should an emergency arise, or if you are in need of Fr. Lamica’s assistance, please contact him at 5183543812. Pat White will be in the office on Monday/Tuesday and Sheila LaRock on Wednesday/Thursday 9:00am to 12noon (5184836674). May our Lord abundantly bless all of you this Easter Season with His many graces!

LIVE THE LITURGY

Christ is risen indeed! We have arrived at the penulti-mate feast on the Church's calendar, the cause of our joy and our hope. Life has defeated death. Sorrow and suf-fering do not have the last say. In the resurrection of Je-sus we see many reasons to rejoice. Not only has Jesus conquered the specter of visible death, but he restores to us graced life. On Holy Saturday, Jesus descended to the dead and delivered the just souls into heavenly paradise. What are our own Saturday tombs? Jesus has the power to open them all. That is our invitation, this day most of all. May resurrection joy fill your heart, your family, your workplace, and your community. Happy Easter!

THE LORD CALLSThe Lord has risen; it is true! Through our baptism, He calls us to proclaim new life to the world. “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.” Are you being called to proclaim the new life of the res-urrected Christ to the world? Talk to Fr. Ray/Fr. Doug Lucia at (315) 3884466 [email protected] / Cathy Rus-sell at (315) 3932920, ext. 1450 [email protected]. See us also on Facebook or at www.myvocation.net.

FROM BISHOP LAVALLEY…

Easter 2018

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN!!

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

“I have risen, and I am with you still, Alleluia.” One would be hard pressed to find words more uplifting than these found in the Entrance Antiphon of the Easter Sun-day Mass. Most often at this Mass we sing a glorious Easter processional hymn rather than voice the words of this antiphon. Yet, the message remains the same: Christ has risen and remains in our midst today! Where do we find Him? We see the Risen Savior: in the nurses and doctors who travel across the world and risk their lives to minister to the innocent victims of senseless violence; in the soldier who bravely works to bring peace to terrorstricken lands; in Christians who courageously worship the Risen Lord risking persecution and death; and in the youth who give up vacation time to lend a hand, a heart and hope to the poor in Latin America.

We find the Risen Christ in the parish catechists who generously offer their time and witness to help form our youth; in the parish priests ministering to God’s holy people over miles of back roads; in moms and dads who give Christian witness to their faith in a cultural environ-ment that is so lacking in support; and in the parishioner who serves the needy in the parish outreach center.

Yes, we see the Risen Christ still active in our midst two millennia after that Easter morn. There is plenty of reason for hope! Easter assures us that God’s promise of presence is fulfilled. The risen Christ, now seen in such lives of heroic service, continues to visit humankind with compassion and mercy. The entire world is filled with a new Presence. We cry out, ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN!!

Blessed Easter to you and your loved ones!

Faithfully yours in Christ, + Terry R. LaValley Bishop of Ogdensburg
