In Memoriam Please remember Marcella Parrott Day whose Funeral

Service was celebrated in our parish community. Please remember her family

in prayer.

Marriage Moments Sunday is Ground Hog Day. It’s all about noticing how life gets played over and over. What traditions keep your

love alive – a weekly date, repeating a special meal, revisiting a place that has meaning for you as a couple? Perhaps

look through old photos for ideas.

Parenting Pointers Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked. Parents do this naturally in the course of raising their

children. Good. Is it time to engage your own children in these works for other less fortunate families? Challenge

them to help.

Please Pray for the Sick Please contact the STA parish office at 270-692-3019 to place a person on the prayer list or request for a person

to continue on the prayer list. Out of respect for each person, please ask the individual prior to placing them on

our prayer list. For those who suffer from illness of any sort and for their families, we pray they may experience

the healing power of Jesus. Please contact the Parish Office 270-692-3019 to place a person on the prayer list or request for a

person to continue on prayer list.

This list was cleared the weekend of February 2. Thanks!

Rite of Enrollment

We will celebrate the Rite of Enrollment for all

our First Communion candidates and their fami-

lies at all weekend masses on February 8 & 9 at

HHM and STA. Please keep these children and

their families in your prayers.

A “Difficult Choice” Advocates of abortion often refer to the decision to have an abortion as a “difficult

choice.”

Why is it a difficult choice? The reason is very simple and obvious. We all know

that the unborn child is a person growing inside the mother’s womb.

So, of course, it is “difficult”. Choosing to terminate the life of another human be-

ing is a “difficult choice”. If the unborn child was not a person, what would be so

difficult about choosing to end his or her life?

Is killing a cancer growing inside your body a “difficult choice”? Of course not.

Dehumanizing the child is a vital strategy used by pro-abortionists to disguise the “difficult choice” that is being

made. The baby is made to appear like the invading “blob of tissue”---like a cancerous growth.

Why do we allow such deceit and victimization of the pre-born? Can you find a more innocent or vulnerable human

being than a precious baby boy or girl inside his/her mother’s womb?

2020 Parish Mission

St. Augustine & Holy Name of Mary will host a Parish Mission Saturday, February 29, and Sunday, March 1, 6:00-8:00 pm, featuring Joe Melendrez.

Joe Melendrez has forged a unique path to becoming one of America’s most exciting Catholic performers. At age fifteen, Joe was featured on MTV and developed a love of performing. Later that year, on a Teen A.C.T.S. Retreat, Joe encountered the awe-some love of God. It was then that he decided to dedicate his life to sharing the Good News. Joe shares the Gospel in many unique ways, from his development of a faith-based clothing line (God Swagg Apparel), his release of four major Catholic hip-hop albums, to sharing the winnings from a college Chipotle contest (a year of free burritos), as a means to evangelize to dif-ferent people with each meal!

Joe’s BA in Religious studies from the University of Dayton has led him to become a Religion teacher and Youth Minister for over 10 years. In addition to his work in Catholic education, Joe’s electric ministry of music and evangelization has taken him to Europe, Africa, Australia, South America and all across the USA. Joe uses his skills to animate huge crowds of teens, and he continues to share these gifts at major youth ral-lies, conferences, and national events. Today, Joe Melendrez is a husband and father, as well as a natural MC, a dynamic musical performer, an inspiring speaker, and an expert re-treat leader.

The Presentation of the Lord

“It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah

of the Lord…. ‘Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word.’”

Luke 2:26, 29 The devout Simeon faithfully served the Lord into old age. Upon seeing the Christ child, he exclaimed to God that

his life was fulfilled. We too encounter Christ, every day. Do we take the time to recognize those encounters and

to thank God?

St. Augustine School

Where the Spirit Thrives!

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Augustine School,

We celebrated Catholic Schools Week Jan. 26 – Feb. 1 with lots of activi-

ties that culminated with our Talent Show where over thirty acts were

showcased. Our students love this week of celebrating the past, present

and future of our Catholic education. We had a special guest stop by one

morning to greet students as they arrived at school. We were so happy that

Mickey Mouse stopped by. Our gift to the parish uses the talents of our

students as ministers at this weekend’s masses.

We had thirty seven students who recently attended the Junior State Beta

Convention in Louisville. They greatly enjoyed this time as they shared in

academic and talent events with middle schoolers from all across the state,

both public and private. Our students did a wonderful job with eleven stu-

dents qualifying for Nationals which will take place in Texas this summer.

Please see next week’s Lebanon Enterprise for pictures. We are proud of

their accomplishment!

Please note the picture of our fourth graders below.

Peace to all, Mr. Terrell
