Three prime areas - these are crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning

There are seven areas of learning and development

Communication and Language Development

Giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment, to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves, speaking and listening in a range of situations.

Physical DevelopmentProviding opportunities for children to be active and interactive; to develop their co-ordination, control and movement. Helping children understand the importance of physical activity; to make healthy choices in relation to food.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Helping children develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; to form positive relationships and develop respect for others; to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; to have confidence in their own abilities.

Literacy

Encouraging children to link sounds and letters and begin to read and write. Children will have access to a wide range of reading materials to ignite their interest.

MathematicsProviding children with the opportunities to develop and improve their skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems; and to describe shapes, spaces and measures.

Understanding the World

Guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their communities, through opportunities to observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.

Expressive Arts and DesignEnabling children to play with a wide range of media and materials. Providing opportunities and encouraging children to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role play, and design and technology.

InductionThere are three induction afternoons planned

Thursday 14th June - 1.30pm - 3.00pm

Thursday 28th June - 1.30pm - 3.00pm

Thursday 21st June - 1.30pm - 3.00pm

These all take place in the Reception Classroom and provide a chance for the children to experience their new setting.

A Message from the Office

Phone the office before 9.15am to report any absences. You can leave a message at anytime on our voice mail.

Money for trips etc in a sealed envelope clearly labelled with child’s name and class. If paying by cheque - make payable to SCC.

Monkey Madness/Breakfast ClubMonkey Madness - after school care based in the Community Room, from 3.30pm - 4.45pm

£3 per session if you purchase a pre-paid card.

£4 per session which will be billed monthly

You can phone and book a place at anytime during the day.

Breakfast Club - we are hoping to run a breakfast club from 7.45am - 8.45am. Please fill in a booking form if you are interested. We will need a minimum of 25 bookings per week to make this viable.
