Jayde Peacock, Amy Cattrell, David Stewart and John Kennedy met up with “Toby” from Asda at John Wheatley College on Wednesday to receive a nice cheque for their efforts and they all immediately told the Re-Gen that the money would be put towards taking the local children to a Pantomime in Glasgow. All four members of Urban Fox were selected for employment via another initiative run by Clyde Gateway in the East End so the story works out really well, as the kids found employment in the east end, work with people in a project dear to the folk of the east end and have now been recognised by the favourite superstore in the east end. Well-Done everyone involved in bringing a bit of good cheer to the area at this time. The Re-Gen wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!

Chosen by You- Given by Us

A local project in the Parkhead area has certainly benefitted from an initiative, Chosen by You-Given by Us run by the ASDA Foundation throughout their stores all over the country as Urban Fox were given a cheque by Asda representative John Toby Flannigan earlier this week.

Youngsters from the Urban Fox project took part in the initiative which had to convince shoppers in

the Asda Superstore at Parkhead to cast their vote for them as they passed through the check-outs, as opposed to two other projects which were also in contention.

The kids had to show just how their project was involving the local community and when the final tally was counted the kids from Lilybank found out they had won.

    Jayde Peacock, Amy Cattrell,

David Stewart and John Kennedy met up with Toby from Asda at John Wheatley College on Wednesday to receive a nice cheque for their efforts and they all immediately told the Re-Gen that the money would be put towards taking the local children to a Pantomime in Glasgow.

All four members of Urban Fox were selected for employment

via another initiative run by Clyde Gateway in the East End so the story works out really well, as the kids found employment in the east end, work with people in a project dear to the folk of the east end and have now been recognised by the favourite superstore in the east end.

Well-Done everyone involved in bringing a bit of good cheer to the area at this time.

Friday 16th December 20112ACPOS LAUNCHES 2011 FESTIVE DRINK DRUG DRIVING CAMPAIGNTHE Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS), law enforcement partners and the Scottish Government are joining forces to get the clear message across that if you drive after drinking too much or taking drugs, you will face the consequences.

This years festive drink and drug driving campaign will see the introduction of tough new measures targeting first time offenders who provide a sample for analysis, which is three times the legal limit or more and also those offenders who refuse to provide a sample for analysis without a reasonable excuse.

As well as receiving a criminal record, a substantial fine and an automatic 12 month ban, these drivers may now have their vehicle seized and, on conviction, have it taken away for good. Commenting on the launch of the 2011 festive campaign Chief Constable Justine Curran, ACPOS Vice President, said: In Scotland we are on patrol 24 hours a day, every day of the year catching those who pose a threat to our safety.

Last year, 7563 people in Scotland were caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which is an average of around 20 offenders every day. It is staggering that so many people are willing to risk their

lives and the lives of others. From today, over the Festive

Campaign, we will be increasing our road patrols targeting those who continue to drive under the influence of drink or drugs. This years campaign marks another extension to the Vehicle Forfeiture Scheme,if we discover through our inquiries that an offender is three times the legal limit or more we will request that the court gives consideration to seizing and forfeiting the offenders vehicle, this means that on conviction the vehicle will be sold or destroyed.

The initiative has been a resounding success which can be attributed to the hard work and support of all the partner agencies involved. A total of 702 repeat offenders have been caught with 155 vehicles forfeited and a further 18 vehicles seized pending a decision by the court. The monetary value of a car may be of little consequence but the loss to the driver in terms of going about their daily business will be extremely high. I would also like to highlight that the people caught drink or drug driving are not hardened criminals, but those people who have not been in any serious

trouble with the police and decide to drink and drive. I would emphasise to anyone who is considering taking

such a risk, that they are also deciding to accept the consequences of criminal record and a substantial fine.

The message is clear if you take the risk we will catch you and I would encourage anyone who suspects a person of drink or drug driving to contact their local police office, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or in an emergency dial 999.

Kenny MacAskill Cabinet Secretary for Justice added: Its a sad fact that we are still having to address this problem over forty years after the law was introduced, and I welcome this tougher new initiative as yet another lever to remove drink and drug drivers from our roads.

The Scottish Government has developed a strong social marketing campaign this year to get the message out that if you are caught drink or drug driving you will lose your licence as we know that many people still dont understand the consequences of their actions.

The system to catch those who break the law is working well. This year, over 7,500 drunk or drugged drivers have lost their licence and been taken off our roads. Thirty deaths caused by drink or drug driving each year is thirty too many, and it will be tolerated no longer.

We will continue to lobby the UK Government for powers to reduce the drink drive limit and work towards eradicating this problem once and for all.

LAST week around five hundred youngsters were on their best behaviour as the waited on Santa turning up to Bridgeton Cross to find out just what they wanted for Christmas this year.

Following the Christmas Tree light switch on by local councillor George Redmond and two local kids, the fun began as Christmas Music filled the air and people danced around the

Umbrella to the sounds of Slade and Shakin Stevens. Queues snaked around the Square as the kids eagerly awaited Santas arrival and lo and behold he was spotted driving along Main Street on his sleigh pulled by two magnificent Clydesdale horses. Once inside his Grotto he began handing out some presents to the children prior to visiting them all on the 25th of December.

Margaret Curran MP and Frank McAveety MSP high-light the proposed changes to vital community lifelineMargaret Curran and Frank McAveety visited Baillieston post office at the weekend to congratulate Mark Adrian and his staff on the service run from and the success of Baillieston Post Office. They know how valued the local post office is to the people of Baillieston. This is great news in Baillieston but legislation recently passed in the House of Commons will mean the privatisation of Royal Mail. This leads to doubts over the future of the Post Office network which can no longer be guaranteed in the years to come. Margaret who spoke in the debate made clear that the legislation is a big mistake and is not supported by the public. Margaret and Frank took the opportunity to make passing shoppers aware of the change to legislation and asked for them to pledge the support by signing a petition. Barlanark Post Office is currently for sale and unless a buyer is found its fate remains uncertain. Margaret Curran says

Urban Post Offices often face different challenges from those in rural communities, they too deal with isolation and represent a lifeline to their communities. We need to take action now to ensure that we do not end up in a situation on which a large retailer steps in and takes over the service. An elderly

person living in Barlanark may be unable to get to any of the large retailers in the community. A single mother with 3 children and without a car relies on local services that the Post Office provides. This legislation is a forerunner of many Post Office closures because we are not taking the necessary

steps to protect the service.Frank McAveety says Privatisation of the Royal Mail has the long term threat to jobs and services at a local level. I will be working with Margaret to ensure the voices of the east end are heard and all the local post offices are protected.

AMAZING WINS FOR GLASGOW DENTAL PRACTICE AT TOP UK INDUSTRY AWARDS

The team at Spring Grove Clinic in Barrachnie Road Garrowhill is celebrating the fantastic achievement of winning two of the top UK Private Dentistry Awards of 2010, namely Practice of the Year and Best Patient Care. It was also awarded runner up in Best Community Charity Project and Outstanding Individual of the Year along with being shortlisted for Most Attractive Practice and Best Team. Winning the Practice of the Year and Best Patient Care Awards is a great endorsement of the Spring Grove Clinic teams commitment to providing affordable, value for money, community based, professional family oral and dental health care, advice, support and treatment to an exceptionally high standard. The award winning practice prides itself on its patient focussed approach which is always courteous, efficient and friendly, set within surroundings that are luxurious, comfortable and welcoming. Heading up the clinical team is Dr David Cunningham who established his practice in Garrowhill over 14 years ago. Winning these two Awards recognises his firmly held belief that a community based dental practice, where patient relationships and trust are key, using the latest dental technology,

can provide the same level of treatment options, care and surroundings as a large city centre based dental practice. Commenting, David Cunningham said, The team has worked incredibly hard to make Spring Grove Clinic a fantastic place for our patients. I am delighted that our efforts have been recognised by the top UK industry professionals. My focus has always been to provide excellent patient care with the very best dental advice and treatment. I believe in spending time with my patients, fully explaining preventative and treatment options to them and supporting them as they choose their treatment plans. I am very grateful to our patients for their fantastic comments in support of our Awards application. At the Awards presentation, the Spring Grove Clinic team were commended for excellence across all of the categories, for the state of the art facility, and being a team who strive to provide excellent patient care. Its efforts in raising funds to support Yorkhill Childrens Hospital ECMO Unit won the runner-up award for Best Community Charity Project. Spring Grove Clinic is a leader in providing dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, invisible braces, tooth whitening and family dentistry.

McAveety Slams SNP Games Funding DecisionGlasgow Shettleston MSP Frank McAveety has hit out at a decision by Scottish Enterprise to slash Commonwealth Games legacy funding by almost half. Clyde Gateway, the body responsible for regenerating the East End of Glasgow, has been hit with a 46% cut in funding for urban regeneration in 2011/2012. The agency has been told it will share around 6.8 million with five other agencies, instead of the 7 million it was initially promised. Frank said: The Enterprise Minister seems to be more interested in facilitating meetings for his friend the Education Minister, who he wants to succeed him as an MSP than he is in the well being of the people of the East End. At this very moment he should be pulling a meeting together with Scottish Enterprise to demand that they withdraw this ridiculous proposal and get around the table with all the partners to fulfil the promises made.Frank added: Unlike any other renewal programme in the country commitments were made to ensure that Glasgow could make the best of the opportunities for the Games and regeneration investment. There is no better case for having an impact on Scotlands economic performance and I am demanding an urgent meeting with the Scottish Government to urge them to ensure Scottish Enterprise withdrawal the proposal to make a massive cut in their previous commitments to the area.

CELEBRATION OF SCHOOL NAMED AFTER LATE CARDINALPUPILS and staff at a merged Glasgow school named in honour of the late Car-dinal Thomas Winning celebrated their official opening celebration on the 1st of December A piper welcomed the official guests who included Archbishop Mario Conti, Bailie Jean McFadden, and local councillors and dignitaries from the area.

The school Cardinal Winning Second-ary (named by the pupils and parents), is the result of a merger between St Aidans and St Joan of Arc secondary schools,(both schools were for young people with ad-ditional support needs), and is the first in Scotland to honour the former Archbishop of Glasgow who died in 2001.

Headmaster Gerry McDonald opened proceedings by relating a little about the 1st of December being a special day in history with events such as the birth of JF Kennedy in 1941, Bill Gates in 1951, Susan Boyle in 1961, Ewan McGregor in 1971, Roger Fe-derer 1981 and now the new school in 2011. Some of the pupils then treated the guests

to a bit of singing and a performance on the Saxophone prior to the Archbishop blessing the school and Bailie McFadden declaring

it officially open. The Archbishop then presented Headmaster McDonald with a Cardinals Cap worn by Cardinal Winning to be displayed within the school.

A new fitness suite, hairdressing sa-lon, home economics and science rooms have been created in the school in the first phase of a 1.9m investment pro-gramme. The second phase, due to start early next year, will see new windows installed, a vocational car valeting station and upgrades to the playground. Speak-ing to the Re-Gen, Bailie Jean McFadden, Executive Member for Education, said: The official opening of a school is always a very joyful occasion.

I am obviously delighted to be opening another wonderful school especially one

which honours the late Cardinal Winning in such a fitting way, and offers pupils access to a host of fantastic training and educa-tional facilities.

I wish everyone associated with Cardinal Winning Secondary school all the very best for the future.

Gerry McDonald, Head Teacher of Car-dinal Winning Secondary, told our reporter, Our aim is to provide education of the highest quality and enable all pupils to reach their potential in becoming success-ful learners and confident individuals. Edu-cation was at the heart of the late Cardinal Winnings work and to have our new school named in his honour allows his legacy of celebrating life to continue to be remem-bered for many generations. Following a tour of the new facilities the guests were treated to a small buffet and a chance to chat to the Archbishop.

Stevie Runs in The Big Apple for Charity

LOCAL lad Stevie Woods was pounding the streets of New York last month in an effort to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care and once he had run around the Big Apple he was delighted not only for himself in completing the mara-thon but for the Marie Curie Cancer Care who will end up with 2069.00 going into their coffers. Stevie chose the charity because sadly almost everyone in the West of Scot-land knows someone who has been af-fected by cancer and also because he works next to the Marie Curie hospice

in the Springburn area. He would like to thank a few people who helped him in his quest to raise the cash and these in-clude his mate Dicky, Jean at Shettleston Barbers, Rocky and all his family, friends and work colleagues who rallied round when the going got tough. Well done Stevie were sure the Ma-rie Curie team will be delighted with your efforts now you can sit back and rest those weary feet. Sizzling Suzies Winter Warmers

Its that time of year again. When you have to decide how to use up all the stuff cluttering up the freezer before you hit the shops for Christmas essentials like big bags of ice for all your drinks!! Only kidding, my bottom freezer drawer is always full of ice. One thing I love about Christmas is that you buy and eat stuff you would normally never have at any other time of year. Which reminds me that I need a new nutcracker. (No jokes about Karen or Paula please Ed!) heehee. If like me you are expecting some visitors over the festive season, then here a few ideas for some tasty canaps. Most can be made in advance, make you seem like the hostess with the mostest and really leave the freezer shop bought ones standing. Any sandwich cut into shapes with a festive cookie cutter is always a winner.

Yorkshire PudsReady made small Yorkshire puddingsCold cooked thinly sliced roast beefHorseradish sauce (optional)Gravy

Make up some good quality gravy mix or like me defrost some you made with last weeks roast dinner. Place some beef, tsp of horseradish and a tbsp of gravy into each pudding. Alternatively you can use roast pork and apple sauce or chicken and stuffing. Reheat in a hot oven 190c for about 10-12 min.

Mini BruschettaToastGarlic clovesFresh chopped tomatoes with seeds removedFresh mozzarellaBasil leaves

Using a pastry cutter cut out the bread into small shapes before toasting. Rub each toast with a cut garlic clove. Top with some tomato, mozzarella and a basil leaf.

Mini sausage rolls1 pack of ready cooked mini sausages1 pack of ready made puff pastryMustard/or ketchup

Roll out the pastry and cut into small squares. Dab a spot of mustard or ketchup in the middle and roll up a sausage diagonally. Bake in a hot oven 190c for 10-12 min.

Retro Cheese/and pineapple hedgehogLarge orangeCheese cut into cubesCan of pineapple chunksCocktail sticks

Cut a small slice out of the orange so it will stand without rolling. Skewer the cheese and pineapple onto the cocktail sticks and push into the orange. Not only will it give your guests a laugh but I guarantee it will get eaten!!

Mini mincemeat puffsJar of good quality mincemeatPack of all butter puff pastryBeaten eggSugar

Using a fancy shape cut out the pastry. Add a tsp of mincemeat and using the beaten egg as a glue top with another shape. Prod with a fork to make steam holes. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar before baking in a hot oven 190-200c for 15-20 min until well risen golden and crispy. Have a bowl of whipped cream or a jug of single cream on the side.

Well folks take care, have a good one and see you all in the New YearLove Susie xx

Time for you to take a big leap forward on any creative projects that have felt stuck for the last few months, as Venus will be in your career house until the 21st you will have the passion and drive to make good progress. The Moon is in Aries on New Years Day, so you may be in the mood to party all night long, your intuitions are also high at this time, so trust your gut instincts.

Raw, honest discussions with friends and family will lead to deeper bonds. As you learn to trust your own mind and emotions, youll be able to share more of yourself with the people that you love. When your ruler Venus moves into your career zone on the 22nd, youll feel like you can once again rule the world. You also get an extra special bonus when lucky Jupiter goes direct in your sign on Christmas Eve.

Your ruler Mercury goes direct on the 13th, providing some much needed stability; youll be able to cope with daily stress much better after that. The New Moon on Christmas eve puts in you in the mind set of being around those who love you, wither it is family, friends or a lover, it is a time of heart felt communications, try to find time for some fun too.

Time out is needed if possible can you arrange to be at a place of relaxation to down load all of that stress, a yoga or meditation class or at least sequester yourself in the comfort of your home, youll feel safe and protected, after the eclipse a sense of calm and peace will return, but only if you effectively deal with the issues that come up in a positive manner.

Long standing issues youve had with friends or any groups youre associated with will come under the microscope. If you must break ties, try not to mourn too long, as its for the best. Youre leaving toxic associations behind so that you can move into a newer and brighter phase next year, one that will engage your creative life fully and see you achieving goals in personal and working life.

You may be going through a whole range of confusing feelings about your job, are you in the right line of work? If not, you may feel like its time to move on, or circumstances may move you. On the other hand, you may be vying for a new position and feel incredibly anxious about whether youll get it. This month is all about you wanting more for you, so sit up take notice but in a constructive manner.

The planets are sure to rock your scales this month, you may be wishing you could crawl under the covers and avoid all means of communication, the inevitable transformation following the chaos is all for the good. Take quiet time at home to ponder and reflect over all of the amazing lessons you learned in 2011and set about making changes for the better.

Change might be painful, but its always good in the long run. You can shed layers upon layers of yourself this month, especially the parts that no longer fit. Now that youve pinpointed any problem areas in your thinking, you can uproot any negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier ideas. What you say to yourself is utterly crucial now; make sure those mind-messages are positive.

Mercury goes direct on 13 December and communication will cease to be an ongoing migraine, your ruler Jupiter goes direct, on the 25th and work and money are on the verge of a major acceleration. After too many fits and starts over the past four months, youll be psyched to get back in the saddle again.

Its recently been difficult to focus, let alone form clear sentence structures, but it gets better as the next few weeks unfold. The Winter Solstice on 22 December marks not just the first day of the Sun entering your stars, but also the return of lighter, longer days. On 24 December, just a few days later, the New Moon in Capricorn invites you to start drafting your New Years resolutions for 2012.

Your ruler Uranus is finally coming out of retrograde on 9th December, after putting your life in limbo for the past few months. Your creative fires will be reignited without leading you to burnout. Then Mercury goes direct on the 13th, easing up any stress around communication with family, friends and colleagues, and life is more balanced from the 15th.

Duality and mixed messages could be a huge test of your faith this month. But the good news is that Mercury and Jupiter will both come out of retrograde, bringing communication and luck back youre your everyday life. (They go direct respectively on the 13th and the 25th). On Christmas Eve, the New Moon in Capricorn marks the perfect moment to sit down and write down your plans for 2012.

LAST Friday Shettleston Harriers celebrated the achievements of their young athletes during the track season just finished.

Glasgow Green Football Centre was the venue and over 100 athletes and parents were joined by some very special guests, with Olympic athlete Lee McConnell and local Councillor and Chair of Glasgow Life ,George Redmond on hand to present the trophies to the athletes .

Top prize of the night went to Ben Main who scooped the performance of the year for his high quality performance in the Hammer event .Stella Winters who collected the national title over 1500m won the endurance trophy donated by former international and world star Nat Muir .Nat was one of the top endurance stars of the 1980s and won the Scottish Cross Country title 8 times in a row.

Casey Alexander picked up 2 trophies winning the best performance for a female athlete for her run in the sprint events during our trip to Gothenburg this summer and also picking up the most UKA

young athletes points during our League events .Young Javelin star Josh Campbell had the honour of collecting the Eddie Taylor Memorial Trophy for the first time .Eddie was a coach for the club and national team for over 40 years.

Lisa Thompson and Jill Cherry made sure it was a clean sweep for the girls when they picked up the trophies in the U/17 and U/15 age groups for collecting UKA league Points.

John McLaren who has overseen these awards for many years passed on the task to Alex Mackay for next season .The club is grateful to John for his hard work in setting these up and all the administration that it involved over the years.

Shettleston Harriers could not exist without the help of our volunteers ,parents and friends and its important our athletes could not achieve these performances without these partnerships.

Our guests echo this giving up their free time at no cost to show their appreciation of the hard work we do in the local community .George also brought his wife along ,a local

girl to help us celebrate our success this year.

A big thanks to all of them and good luck to Lee on her quest to compete in her third Olympics!

Helenslea Gets Ready For Santas Visit

Helenslea Hall in Lilybank was the place to be last week as it was time for the Christmas Fayre and what a day it turned out to be.

There were plenty of stalls on offer and both adults and kids alike snapped up the goodies on sale. (I got some cracking old CDs for just a couple of pounds). Cathy McCourt was kept very busy at the tea-stall and Debbie McGowan and the staff at the centre certainly worked hard to ensure everything went well.

There was also a couple of Raffles but needless to say I didnt win anything but Ill keep trying. Star of the show as usual was the visit of Father Christmas and he was kept very busy throughout the day.

ONE of Bailliestons most well-known and respected doctors has decided to retire at the end of this year to spend more time enjoying his hobbies of choral music and steam trains while he is still young enough. Dr. Alastair Harper of the McKinnon Practice in Baillieston Health Centre at Muirside Road has been a fixture at Baillieston since 1987 and its testimony to his popularity that the patients and staff have been handing in cards and presents to the surgery. Alastair graduated from Glasgow University and his initial employment took him to the Dumfries and Galloway area. After completing his GP training he moved south to Cambridge and did a further degree in Public Health prior to returning to Glasgow and Baillieston. Dr. Harper is very interested in

Palliative Care which is part of supportive care and it has been defined as follows: Palliative care is the active holistic care of patients with advanced progressive illness. Management of pain and other symptoms and provision of psychological, social and spiritual support is paramount. The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best quality of life for patients and their families. Many aspects of palliative care are also applicable earlier in the course of the illness in conjunction with other treatments. Palliative care aims to: Affirm life and regard dying as a normal process, Provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms, Integrate the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care, Offer a

support system to help patients live as actively as possible until death and offer a support system to help the family cope during the patients illness and

in their own bereavement. Thanks to Alastairs interest in this he has set up a Gold Standards framework which now is incorporated within the McKinnon practice. The date Alastair has set in his diary to call it a day is the 29th of December and we trust that he will be able to indulge in his hobbies for a long time to come. Best wishes Alastair from all your patients, staff and friends in Baillieston.

A campaign to encourage more people to enjoy nature close to home comes to the east end of Glasgow next week. The Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) Simple pleasures, easily found campaign hopes to inspire local people to make more use of a series of green places in the middle of the city, taking in parks, woodland, waterways and miles of paths. To help people get start-ed, SNH has produced a new, free leaflet with details of where to go and what to see. And to celebrate, Glasgows countryside rangers will be running a fun, free guided walk and storytelling event at Robroyston local nature reserve on Monday 12 December. People are invited to bring along their old photos and memories of the park and nature reserve to share. The leaflet, Simple pleasures, easily found in East Glasgow recom-mends four easy-to-follow routes Glasgow Green to Richmond Park; Alexandra Park; Early Braes Park and Robroyston local nature reserve. It gives ideas for simple, free activities to enjoy along the way, like looking out for ripples and reflections in the River Clyde, listening to birds singing on a crisp winters day or sitting on a bench and enjoying the views across the city. Ross Johnston, SNH area manager said: People often think enjoying the outdoors means a trek deep into the coun-tryside, but that just isnt true.

This colourful guide introduces some of the best places for nature in the middle of Glasgow, so the good thing is you dont have to go very far from your own front door. Theres plenty to see throughout the year. Whether its getting your wellies on and splashing through puddles, or feeding the ducks, we hope the leaflet will inspire you to explore somewhere new and have fun rediscovering some of your childhood pastimes. As well as having fun, a bit of outdoor ex-ercise is good for your health and its all for free. Once youve visited these places, we hope youll be inspired to explore further afield. The leaflet is part of a national campaign encouraging people to get outdoors more often to enjoy nature, particularly in Scotlands urban areas. The campaign was launched after research showed that 52% of adults in Scotland visit the outdoors less than once a week. John Parker, a countryside ranger with Glasgow City Council who will be leading the guided walk, said: Robroyston Park is one of over 90 parks and green places youll find across Glasgow. Its an exciting place to visit with lots of different habitats, includ-ing ponds and other wetlands, which offer sanctuary and plenti-ful food for birds and water beas-ties. It also has great woodlands where you can see and hear birds like fieldfare and redwing in the winter.

THE new 1.1million sq ft Col-legelands development on the east side of Glasgows city cen-tre, which will see its first office block occupied early in 2012, will offer 1225 free parking spaces at the new Duke Street multi-storey car park this Sun-day before Christmas. The new car park opened on 4th Decem-ber, and in addition to the free parking on Sunday, discounted parking rates of 3 per day will apply there until 31 December. The car park is operated by City Parking (Glasgow) LLP.Collegelands is Glasgows first new city centre quarter in de-

cades, and will feature over 1.1million sq ft of commercial and residential development when complete. It has been created through a partnership between Glasgow City Council and Dawn Group. Councillor Gordon Mathe-son, the Leader of Glasgow City Council, told the Re-Gen: The Collegelands development has al-ready brought a tremendous eco-nomic boost to the city, and this will continue as the regeneration of this part of the city centre and the East End gains momentum. The free and discounted car park-ing on offer this month will be a great boost for shoppers as we

approach Christmas. This is yet another reason for people to visit the city centre theres no better place to be at this time of year that Glasgow. The Grade A office space, student accommodation and a massive new car park for the city make this a very attrac-tive location for future investors and businesses. One of the UKs biggest urban developments over the past few years, Collegelands is a symbol of the continuing re-generation of Glasgow, fulfilling economic and inward investment as well as meeting wider social and community regeneration ob-jectives.

The kids from the FAB (For All Bridgeton) held their annual Christmas Party in the Learning Centre in Bridgeton last week and they all certainly enjoyed the fun. There were all the usual games, scrumptious food and a great sing song culminating in the appearance of Santa Claus and his Favourite Elf (although we at the Re-Gen are not so sure about them as both looked decidedly dodgy Ho Ho Ho!!! The kids at Fab made Santas Sleigh and what a great job they made of it as well. Thanks must go to every one of the staff and helpers at FAB and Bridgeton Community Learning Centre for their organising and supervision on the day.

customers so were making it easy for them to enjoy the celebrations and donate as little or as much as they can afford. Were proud to be supporting Cash for Kids and Text Santa and the work they do for the most vulnerable in the Glasgow area.

Camlachie striker David Quinn produced a Man of the Match four-goal display in their 8-0 victory against Edinburgh United, while House continued their super away form with a 3-1 success against Rossvale. Despite early United chanc-es, it was SCYP who made the breakthrough with a first-time Quinn shot at East End Healthy Living Centre. The same player looped home a header for No 2, and William Workman rifled in a right-foot shot after half an hour. With Camlachie first to every ball, it was no surprise when David Quinn completed his hat-trick on 50 minutes. The jet-paced striker reacted brilliantly to get across his marker and finish off a left-wing cross. Shortly afterwards, Quinn burst past the defence and netted his fourth and Camla-chies fifth of the match. The first of two penalty kicks awarded to the homesters was converted by Ryan McLean after Craig Buchan-

an had been upended. Min-utes later, Darren Miller went down inside the area, but this time Darryl Still shot wide from 12 yards. United, who had beaten hosts Baillieston Juniors in the previ-ous round, were deflated when Still netted from 25 yards. Following more efforts on the Capital goal, Brian Henderson completed their eightsome reel. BROOMHOUSE, who kicked-off their Cup campaign at Haddington, appear to like away-day assignments. Having enjoyed the bulk of clear-cut first half chances, the visitors were shocked when Daniel McSweeney put Ross-vale ahead after 46 minutes at Huntershill, Bishopbriggs. The lead lasted barely two minutes. Jason MacKay played a pass across goal and Gary McLaughlin equalised. Twin strikers David Omozik and Gary McLaughlin linked-up for a second goal in 53 minutes - the latter heading home from close range. Colin Cairns eased Broom-

The final scoreline could have been even more emphatic after Man of the Match Jason MacKay was brought down for a penalty kick, but substitute Darren Hogan had his attempt saved.
