are still a couple spots left in the hands on
Sashiko class, so if you are wanting on an opportunity to try out this machine while
making something, don’t delay in signing up. This class will be held at Rae-Bon. You can
also sign up for the lecture/trunk show, held at the Skills and Technology Center.
This can be done in the shop or by
contacting the guild.
We have had a lot of fun new arrivals at the shop. I just love the new Moda line
“Spring Bunny”. The fabric colors are great and the bunny panel is adorable. Of course,
I had to make the sample since I love
anything dolls. Make sure you check out
the super hero doll panels. You can use
these as towels or sew up the boy and girl super hero dolls. We also have a fun Easter
group “Hippity Hop” from Henry Glass and
another from Blend Fabrics.” Aria” is a great spring group form Windham; two of
the pieces are a lawn fabric for tops and dresses if you want to do a bit of garment
sewing. We also have the fabric to protect your credit cards when making wallets.
The Kimberbell Academy was a fun learning experience for me. I hope you all
enjoyed my first Facebook live video. Not sure how many more of these I want to do,
but we have to try new things I guess. I
look forward to holding our first Kimberbell Retreat event in July. From the

Ditty Bags
Back in the days when America was a seafaring nation, apprentice sailors made their own ditty bag as part of their apprenticeship. In the course of making the bag, these
apprentices learned all the sewing skills they would need as a sailor: how to sew flat-
felled seams, installing grommets, and more. And, they had a useful bag to carry all their tools and personal supplies when they went to sea.
As an apprentice purse-maker, you will learn all the skills needed to make bags and
purses as you make your own Ditty Bag: Continue to practice quilting fabric with Soft and Stable.
Learn to make and attach borders and handles.
Learn to attach a single-slide zipper. Learn tips for sewing along curved edges.
Learn to make and attach bias binding.
Ditty Bags are perfect for any gender and any age. The pattern includes three graduated sizes so that you can
carry just about anything and everything. Perfect for
the sewing room, bathroom, nursery, child’s room,
craft room—or anywhere in the house!
Sheri will be teaching the medium in class. BYOM,
pattern, fabric, and basic sewing and cutting supplies.

Pink Flamingo
Spring Flowers by Thomas J. Rauens
The flowers of the springtime,
The tulips shining, so
The lilies and the lilacs,
All put on quite a show.
They are the joy of springtime.
Their lovely blossoms beam.
In flower beds and gardens
They make a lovely scene.
In fields, in the warmer weather,
They’re such a sight to see.
In this expensive world of ours
The best things still are free!
