Progressive groups finally decide to realize the game that everyone in High School #7 Oriente, were waiting.

By Alberto Vázquez

As we all know the group #7 has very good soccer players and they were looking for a rival to play their last game together. And they couldn’t find a best rival, that the group #15, the other progressive group in the high school.

“El Clásico” as members of the Group #7 denominate this game, was confirmed by David Mendez and Jesus Garza, who negociaron with students of group #15. David Mendez said that “it was difficult to convince them, but finally they accepted to play against us”.

The game of the year will be played in the Indicativos’ weeks, in the pitch that is localizated in the Industrias del Vidrio neighborhood, just at 4 minutes of the High School.

If you are interested to play, or to go to support the team you can ask for more information with the “Tales”. We hope that all the group #7 be present to support our team in “El Clásico”, it doesn’t matter if you are a “Fresa” or a “Malito”, now we need to be together to defeat group #15.

INTRAMUROS Hello! This is your section for introducing into the “Intramuros” topic, here you can find everything about the sports that our highschool offers, enjoy! and don’t forget to send us your questions or requests to: [email protected]

Judo

If you are looking for a contact sport this is literally -exactly- what you are looking for.

The judo is a modern martial art and combat sport created in Japan in 1882. The object is to either throw or takedown one's opponent to the ground, immobilize, subdue one's opponent with a grappling maneuver, or force an opponent to submit by joint locking or by executing a strangle hold or choke.

Karate

Karate is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Islands in what is now Okinawa, Japan.

Karate is a striking art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands. Grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes are taught in some styles.

Page 21: The Proyecto "Seven Magazine"

21

Taekwondo

Punching + Kicking + Safety = Taekwondo.

Taekwondo is a sport from Korea and the national sport of South Korea that has become more popular

in Mexico since the Olympiad Games of Athens 2004 where Iridia Salazar and her brother participed .

In Korean, tae (태, 跆) means "to strike or break with foot"; kwon (권, 拳)

means "to strike or break with fist"; and

do (도, 道) means "way," "method," or "art." Thus, taekwondo may be

loosely translated as "the art of the foot and fist" or "the art of kicking and punching."

Lima Lama

Limua Lima Lama, also known as Limalama is a martial art from Samoa Americana created in the 50’s.

Its caracteristic feature is its historic land Limalama Samoan and Polynesian martial arts - including the use of wrist, hand traps, and dislocation and bone-broking moves, along with the knife and stick techniques. But of course the Highschool has special equipment and trained teachers that supervise the fights.

Chess

Like the board games?, always wanted to test yourself by either learning or playing chess? This

is your chance!. Chess worldwide known and played is a two-player board game played on a chessboard, a square-checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. Each player begins the game with sixteen pieces: One king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. Pieces move in different assigned ways according to their type, and accordingly are used to attack and capture the opponent's pieces. The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is under immediate attack (in "check") and there is no way to move or defend it.

Volleyball

Still

Volleyball is an Olympic team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to

score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.

Softball

Softball is a team game direct descendant of baseball although some key differences are that softballs are larger than baseballs and the pitches are

Page 23: The Proyecto "Seven Magazine"

23

thrown underhand rather than overhand besides Softball is played on a smaller diamond than in baseball.

Despite the game's name, the standard softball is not soft; in fact, it is harder than a baseball.

We were with Azael Barboza, a judo’s fighter of our high school that went to the National Olympics. Here is an interview about his experiences in that tournament.

By: Angel Medina

How do you feel when you knew that you would go to the National Olympics?Azael.-I felt very excited because I have to travel to Merida and my state would support me.

How did your family react to this?Azael.-They felt happy when they know that I would participate in a National Olympics again.

How much time did you prepare for a competition like this?Azael.-We are preparing and training for this all the year.

Did you felt nerves before a competition?Azael.-No because, we train all the year for that, so we are prepared for everything.

How did you feel when you fight for the first time?Azael.-I felt sure, because as in the life, you have to be sure of everything that you do.

At which instance did you reach?Azael.-I reach to the semifinals.

Which was your last fight result?Azael.-I loose with the fighter from Oaxaca.

Page 24: The Proyecto "Seven Magazine"

24

Which was your reaction after your elimination?Azael.-Obviously I didn’t like it because I wanted to win at least the bronze medal, but it’s ok.

How did you rate your participation?Azael.-I think that I’m not the correct person to do that. I only know that I did the best of me.

Would you like to compete again in this tournament?Azael.-Of course, the next year I will try to qualificate again, but now in a different category.

Thanks for your participation; you are an example for all of us in the High School.

Every place, even every school has their own stories… And Prepa 7, It isn’t the exception.

The first story was related by a concierge some years ago. Another story, that we Heard was that one that told us the guard, he told us that he was walking for the hall in the night and suddenly he saw a kid stand in front of him, he said that it was very late in the night and he scared a lot because the kid didn t look good, he almost pass out ‘cause he really was very scared. 26

The High school number 7 was established on September 1966. There´s a book that contains all that info and it´s called “Esbozohistorico”

Professor Aurelio has been a Teacher for 27 years and has worked on our School for 15 years. He has also worked on the high schools #23 and #15.

The “Puentes” unit of the high school seven has 80 teachers, while the

We all know “Güero”…our doorman, but a few people know that he has worked on our high school for 8 years and we are sure that even less people know that his name is Felipe de Jesús.

There have also been some accidents in the high school, and it´s a coincidence that an electriscist fell the last week on the same place where a gardener fell a lot of years ago. They both suffered serious injuries…isn’t it kind a creepy?

Our School has won aproximatelly 12 gold medals only in the Biology Olimpics!

Being the high school president can have some benefits…some teachers won´t mind if you don´t bring your homeworks…and you will pass the 90% of your time on your tiny office!!
