2. 2. Here are Mary and Joseph preparing to take Jesus to the Temple inJerusalem to be presented, as was the Jewish custom of the time.We think they felt nervous and happy while they were getting ready.They must have been such proud parents!
3. 3. Here are Mary and Joseph arriving at the Temple with Jesus.They had two turtledoves with them as an offering, as was thelaw of Moses.They were greeted by a holy man named Simeon.
4. 4. God had promised Simeon that he would not die until had seenthe Messiah.Simeon took baby Jesus in his arms and praised God, saying,This day, O Lord, your promise is fulfilled, for my eyes haveseen your salvation which you have prepared for all people.
5. 5. Joseph and Mary were filled with wonder at Simeons words.
6. 6. Simeon blessed the Holy Family.
7. 7. Then Simeon turned to Mary and said,Your Son will be rejected by men and your heart tooshall be pierced.How did Mary and Joseph react to hearing his words?How would they cope?
