AIMS & OBJECTIVES The main emphasis of the course is to give students the best possible preparation for a successful career in tourism and hospitality management. Lectures on international case studies, group discussions and activities used throughout the course provide opportunities for individuals to apply their learning, to develop and enhance their knowledge and competencies in tourism and hospitality industry.

Diploma in Travel Tourism & Hospitality (6+6)

EXPECTED OUTCOMESAt the end of this program, participants will be able to:Develop a good foundation of travel, tourism and hospitality skills and knowledge in order to progress to higher skills acquisition in the industry. Analyze strategic and operational issues related to the travel and tourism industry Gain an overview of the management, marketing and human resource principles and practices in the context of the tourism industryComplete a six (6) months internship programme with any travel, tourism and hospitality establishment

Admission Requirements: Minimum age of 17 years.Completion of Shelton Certificate in Higher Education OR Shelton Certificate in Advanced Study Skills OR A-Levels OR its equivalent  Min English language requirement*: TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5.5 or its equivalentScore 70% in Shelton’s English Language Admission Test Any other qualifications subject to Shelton’s Academic Board’s approval

* Minimum language requirement is considered met if:

The applicant has completed a programme from a recognized institution where English is the sole medium of instruction

International applicant has attained a minimum grade of PASS in the English subject and with a certification from the Head of School that programme studied was delivered in English medium

Indian students have a minimum grade of 65% in English subject at standard XII

*The college reserves the right to administer an interview via skype and similar mediums in order to ascertain the language proficiency of the applicantDiploma in Travel Tourism &

POGRAMME STRUCTURE The six (6) modules will be taught over a total period of 6 months with a maximum of 252 hours of lectures and tutor-led in-class activities including tutorials and 648 hours of self managed learning. The programme also includes a compulsory six-month period of industrial training/ attachment, after which students will need to complete and submit a work-related project report.
