Dear NDHS Family,

The calendar declares fall is here; and we have had a couple of cooler days that put a little pep in everyone’s step.

We anticipate our Homecoming the week of October 19th where we will honor the classes of 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011. Congratulations to the young ladies on our H.C. Court. Homecom-ing week is always an enjoyable and exciting time for everyone associated with Notre Dame High School. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, HC will look a little dierent this year, however we are trying to get creative in order to provide some activities that will be fun for our students while still staying within the mandated guidelines.

Health care professionals are telling us that this year a u immunization is more important than ever! Complications of the u increase hospitalizations and put more pressure on our health care system. Remember that because the virus used to make the u vaccine is either inactivated or attenuated, it cannot “give” you the u. While it doesn’t guarantee protection, it is our best defense to date. Please remind your student about the importance of frequent hand-washing and generalhygiene (covering the mouth-and coughing/sneezing into the elbow area or into a tissue). Precaution should be used in locker rooms and areas of moisture and contact. Any break in theskin should be monitored for redness, swelling, and tenderness. Early detection and studentcooperation is key. Dirty towels and clothes should be removed from lockers and brought homefor washing. Please discourage your son from shaving body hair in the showers here at school, since a nick can provide an opportunity for bacteria to cross the skin barrier. Working together,we can help keep our children healthy.

Each year as Homecoming is celebrated, we reect on Notre Dame’s history. For over fty years, with the help and guidance of religious and lay people of vision, Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish has prospered. Graduating more than 5,000, NDHS has had a tremdous impact on the lives of its students, their families and the entire community. We are grateful to our ownership parishes for their support, to our Chancellor, Father Mikel Polson, and to our area clergy for their dedication. Thanks to ALL our supporters, faculty and sta who believe in the great value of Catholic education. As we look forward to the season of Thanksgiving and renewal, we ask that you consider a gift to our PIO APPEAL, so that Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish can continue to carry out its Mission.

Blessings!

UPCOMING:

ACT @ NDOctober 24

Bottom line: Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and get help, even when things calm down—

there’s no shame in asking questions and seeking help if you’re not sure what’s going on with

your kid. In a crisis or an immediate emergency, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at

800-273-TALK, or text “NAMI” to 741-741.

RELIGION NEWS

Peace and joy in Christ! It's hard to believe that we have already come to the end of our first two months of school. As we roll into October, we

have the hope of cooler weather (and less mosquitos!) and the return/continuation of Pio athletics!

While all of these things add to the beauty of those cherished "days of fall", we are also mindful that the month of October holds a special

place in our life of faith, especially as Catholics. October is celebrated at the month of the Holy Rosary. The Rosary, a beautiful prayer that

serves as a meditation on the life of Christ, has been prayed by millions of Catholics for hundreds of years. According to Dominican tradition,

the Rosary was given to St. Dominic by the Blessed Mother herself back in the year 1214.

Today, this prayer remains an ever present and always strong pillar of our Catholic faith. Saints through the centuries have spoken to the

incredible power of the Rosary in our lives and in the world. It is only fitting that we listen to and are encouraged by their words: Let us pray that this month would be a month of renewal, one that happens through the hands of our Blessed Mother, as we journey with her deeper into the

life of Christ her Son.

In Christ - James Franke
