    All of us have family, friends, home, food, money and othermaterial things. Because of them we create our dreams, hopes, and

    even our destiny that makes us strong and able to face the obstacles inlife. Although we all have this, we always asks for more, we are not

    contented.

    In our everyday life, we encounter different kinds of people as

    we go our way. Sometimes, these people brings a great impact to us.And one of them are the young beggars we always see everywhere.

    These children, at their young age sacrifice in order to survive. Seeing

    them, we realized that we are lucky because even if we are poor, there

    are people who are much poorer than us.

    Touching the beggars

    Never miss a single recording moment

    By Liezel Reondanga

    The beggars are those who need comfort of

    others, dont have enough foods, lacks of money

    or anything that makes them feel alive and happy.

    These people are hopeless in their life.

    What best description can I say about beggars?

    Should I accept the fact that beggars are part of

    my community? The questions that I need to

    think about their lives. But how can I settle it out

    without giving time for them? Without knowing

    their personality?

    As a youth, we need to help the beggars by

    making them realize the importance of life, by

    telling them that theyre not alone. Dont let

    them down and let us change their lives by

    reaching out and talk to them, their friends and

    their parents as well.

    1. gging is the practice ofimploring others to grant a

    favor, often a gift of money,with little or no expectation

    of reciprocation. Beggars

    may be found in public

    places such as transportroutes, urban parks, and

    near busy markets. Besides

    money, they may also ask

    for cigarettes or other small

    items.

    THE INNOCENTONES

    The journey of our life already starts evenbefore the day we were born in this cruel world.Everyone became a child wherein the only thingsthat we know is to play, eat and sleep. Childs

    life, cycled only on his friends, to his brothers andsisters and to his parents. Imagine how lucky weare if we have all of these things. We should bethankful that we have our parents who supportand love us.

    Not all people are born with this kind oflife situations. Unfortunately, some people are notblessed to have a family to be with them and ashelter that they will live in. These people that Iam trying to point out are those people who liveat the streets. They were spending their wholeday begging money.

    When we had an interview with someyoung beggars here, Ive realized that thedifficulties that Imin to now are very much lighterthan those difficulties that these children have.

    It is very common if a beggar asks moneyfrom you, when we talked with these beggars wedidntgive them money instead we bought them

    food to eat. It makes me feel so weak when I sawthem scattering around the city and eat nothingthe whole day. It was so stressful for me thinkingabout these kids, they have nothing to eat; theylook so unpleasant and even their smell as if theyreally didnt take a bath in his entire. How pitythey are! They were living so miserable. I wish Icould do something for them and give them thethings that they need in order for them not to

    beg money from other people anymore.

    There are people who are blessed with everything: a goodtime , with delicious foods ,new clothes and other luxuriousthings. There are also those who just lived simply, working hardto be able to eat three times a day and to sustain the dailyneeds. Worst, there are also some who really dont haveanything, even a spare of cloth just to cover the coldness ofthe dark night or a pair of slippers enough to protect the feetfrom the rough road.

    This is how life becomes so unfair, words which perfectlydefine the situation of this people whom in their early arealready exposed to a life treating them pretty rough. One ofthem is Noel, a 10-year old boy from San Vicente, Bulan,Sorsogon and has a drunkard mother. He is forced to work(receiving 20 pesos) by fetching a pail of water and by washingothers car (also often seen in public places begging for food ora drop of penny). Together with him is Amir, who is also a 10-year old boy and from San Vicente, Bulan, Sorsogon as well. But

    unlike Noel, he continues to study at San Vicente ElementarySchool as Grade-II pupil in spite of his sad story. Only,according to him, he was not already going home because of thefear from the history of his late uncle who was killed there last20__. Another is Ronnel, a 12-year old boy all the way fromIrosin, Sorsogon who was forced to stop attending school atBacolod Primary School as an honor Grade-V pupil because of acruel and mentally ill father and was abandoned by a mother foranother family.

    These are just some of those unhappy stories ofyoung beggars that we have here in Bulan. Althoughthey can be stubborn or liars and even, do bad thingssuch as stealing just to survive, we should understand

    how it is to be young who are supposed to be inschool or at home--- playing, sleeping comfortably,or eating plenty of foods. They should be in the

    accountability of their parents who are expected toguide and protect them as they are growing.

    Unluckily, what they have is the other way aroundand this how life became unjust.

    But what was admirable with these kids was that

    they can still manage to smile widely and laugh outloud regardless of their real situation. And let me

    share with you this simple text message:

    God gave us EYES not to insult, but to LOOKbeyond situation;

    A MOUTH not to criticize, but to SPEAK fortruth;

    HANDS not to punish sinners, but to GIVE a helpinghand;

    EARS not to be insensitive, but to HEAR voices inpain;

    Everything He gives us has its own purposes.Its just a matte Of choosing what is right...
