Have you missed us Theres been so much happening in the practice over the last few

months that finding time to sit down and write a newsletter has had to take a back seat

However like waiting for a bus - you wait for ages and therell be another one along very

soon - our festive newsletter will be winging its way to you mid December with details of

our opening hours and emergency contact details for the Christmas period - AND -

contain your excitement - another Christmas song from us - hopefully a bit more in

tune than the one we did last year

Derek shows off stunning new technology

Intraoral scanners from iTero scan the mouths of patients capturing images to create

three-dimensional dental images in minutes Intraoral scanners are simple to use and

can be operated by one person Their user-friendly nature can now help dental

professionals get the best results The scans they produce are also more detailed than

the traditional two-dimensional images they replace

Intraoral digital scans help us create accurate physical dental models for restorative

work including crowns veneers and implants They also help orthodontists diagnose

orthodontic problems and develop the best treatment plans

Invisalign clear aligners are one of the most popular teeth-straightening aids we are

using today as theyrsquore effective removable and virtually undetectable Unlike many

intraoral scanners iTero intraoral scanners are compatible with the Invisalign system

including its Invisalign Outcome Simulator We can now scan patientsrsquo mouths with an

iTero intraoral scanner then show them how their Invisalign treatment will look This

technology improves the patient experience because patients can know what to expect

and feel more confident in their diagnosis and treatment plan

The Last Word

Are we able to once again revere wisdom no matter how uncomfortable the truth may

be As we hurtle towards two very different times one of recurring certainty referred toby our American cousins as ldquothe holiday seasonrdquo and the other of most dubious

certainty described by our European neighbours as a ldquoGood Brexit dealrdquo I find myselfreflecting on wisdom From my chair in front of the wireless this appears to be a

diminishing quality ndash well at least amongst our elected representatives and those whocontrol the airwaves Wisdom has to a large extent been replaced by a desire for

popularity acceptance and sensationalism

I am reminded of one of our many delightful patients of shall we say ndash advanced yearsFor our story letrsquos call her Mrs C At the venerable age of 86 Mrs C and I share a lifelong

The pleasure of her company has much to do with her age and of course the fact that

she has all her marbles I find a special relish in talking with very old people of characterItrsquos because I think they have long ago given up liking the things theyrsquore supposed to
