In the municipality of Yacuanquer, the heirs of the planet named "La Orquidea” (The Orchid) aended the visitors presenng each of the members of the Group and some parents, exposing the main acvies performed by them such as the producon of handmade creams of Marigold and other medicinal plants. They also shared cultural expressions such as tradional dances and commented on conservaon strategies in the Nukanchi Nature Reserve, a natural area protected by Asorquidea peasants.. OF THE PLANET NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2018 ··· NARIÑO - COLOMBIA ··· The heirs of the planet are a group composed by children and young people who inhabit rural regions of the Nariño Department in Colombia, we call ourselves that way because we carry out acons to conserve all forms of life, water, ecosystems and tradions of our territories supported by the Associave Mingas and the ADC Peasant Development Associaon. Last July we received the visit from Europe from our inmate friends, headed by Mr Peter Busmann accompanied by his wife Vrenely, his sister Aenne, friend Juan and his family, Sarita, Oscar and his daughters. This wonderful group of friends parcipated in different acvies organized by the associave Mingas and community groups such as Asorquidea and Chapacual in the municipality of Yacuanquer, Asoyarcocha and Gualmatán in the municipality of Pasto, and Asounificados in the municipality of Chachagüí. Natural Reserves and Communication in Asoyarcocha
In the magical lagoon of La Cocha, located in El Encano township, our visi�ng friends shared with the Heirs of the Planet Los Tucanes.
In the mee�ng the representa�ves of the groups showed the most significant experiences related to the care of nature in the Natural Reserves of Civil Society and the popular communica�on ac�vi�es carried out by the members of the communica�ons group "Brisas de La Cocha (La Cocha Breezes)".
In the Charmolan Nature Reserve, a natural area protected by the Minga Associa�on of Unified Peasants of the municipality of Chachagui, the Heirs of the Planet "Friends of Nature" welcomed our friends by exposing their achievements as a community group through the presenta�on of a work of puppets. They also showed the results of the follow-up to the water sources and shared a delicious tradi�onal recipe based on cassava.
Very close to the city of Pasto, in the village of Gualmatan, the heirs to the planet “Gualmaventura” shared with the invited delega�on the efforts they have made for several years to recover na�ve seeds and promote the implementa�on of the orchards in the family grounds in favour of the environment and food

In the villages of Gualmatan and El Encano, the XVI Edi�on of the "Campaign for the Protec�on of the Wax Palm" was developed. This environmental ini�a�ve, which has been carried out since 2002, aims to protect the natural popula�ons of Palma de Cera (Wax Palm), a na�onal tree of Colombia that is listed within the species of threatened flora. The Campaign calls annually more than 100 Heirs of the Planet of the groups "Gualmaventura" and "Los Tucanes" to undertake environmental awareness ac�ons to preserve the Palm of Wax and reduce its use in the religious celebra�ons of Palm Sunday.
